Dine with a Doc® program is a FREE educational COMMUNITY BASED program that allows seniors an opportunity to enjoy the information brought to them from a local physician at a congregate meal setting. The Dine with a Doc® program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living, and educate
them (from a preventative standpoint) with the goal of ensuring their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make an informed choice about their healthcare.In the Dine With A Doc® program , a free lunch is provided to the seniors while a Doctor speaks concerning topics of
concern to the senior population . At the conclusion of the doctor presentation seniors are invited to ask questions
about the material presented or any other topic for which they have concerns. Doctors donate their time to do the
presentation and stay until Dine with a Doc ® is finished to answer questions free of charge. Those attending feel as
though they have just received a free doctor visit. (At times, as seniors request , doctors other than medical doctors
present, i.e. dentists, veterinarians, chiropractors, psychologists, etc.) Local provider agencies and businesses serve the seniors through this program in two ways, 1) as lunch sponsor (who in exchange for providing the free lunch are allowed 20-30 minutes to share information about their business and the services they provide), and 2)aka "mini -commercial"(a business who talks 1-3minutesin exchange for providing a door prize for the seniors to win.
