Hello folks, and Happy Saturday!

Registration is now open for our FIRST EVER child-centered conference. We will have representatives from the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children, as well as leaders from all over the region here to provide some amazing training to ANYONE that has a passion for stopping generational substance use in our communities.

We are limiting this conference to 250 guests, so please be sure to register early.

I had the amazing privilege of speaking with about 20 members of the Vigo County chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa-Chi. This group of active and retired teachers were not only a huge bucket of fun, but also incredibly generous as they surprised me with a $170 donation!

It was truly a pleasure to spend an afternoon explaining what VigoDEC is and our vision for the future. It’s so refreshing to feel the passion this group has for Vigo County youth! Thank you all so much!

Hey folks, we’ve been made aware of a very important DCS meeting scheduled for our regular monthly meeting date and time. We’ve decided to postpone our meeting for a week to accommodate. We’ll see everyone on the 18th this month!

We received an amazing donation from Java Haute this afternoon! Java Haute Manager Brittany Molinder donated $1 from each You Matter Macha sold during the month of May, bringing attention to Mental Health Awareness month. A total of 517 delicious Macha drinks were sold!

Thank you Java Haute, for investing in the next generation of youth in Vigo County!

Today is National DEC Awareness Day.

This day happened to coincide with two major yourh-centered meetings in Vigo County.

Yesterday, we met with Indiana Youth Institute for their State of the Child address. You can find more information including our local dashboard at their website: https://www.iyi.org/

This morning, a panel discussion was held by the Vigo County Crisis Intervention Team to address youth crisis throughout Vigo County. Our very own VigoDEC co-chair, Dr Megan Kirk was a panelist, discussing what Project Aware has been doing in our county schools.

Even with all the amazing work currently being done in our county, there is still so much more to do. So many children are depending on us as active citizens of this county, to get involved. Let’s make this community a better place for our next generation.
