Bailey served as the ISU ADKCC Historian and graduated in May. She has had a busy summer! She moved to Charlotte, NC, unpacked, loaded up the car with her husband, two pups, two foster children, and proceeded to drive to Kansas City, MO to present two sessions at the ADK International Convention. She is now preparing to start her career as a second teacher at Pinewood Elementary School. Congratulations Bailey! Bailey's wish list for her classroom is attached. It’s been quite the change, as last semester I taught 4th and 5th, but it’s been a good change. I feel like everyday I learn something new that will help me as a future teacher. Last night, ADKCC members created origami hearts! They learned about the Universal design for education and then used various methods to learn how to do the folding for the hearts in order to model how every student learns differently!

“Hello! My name is Sydney Miller and I am student teaching at Hoosier Prairie Elementary School. I am in the fifth grade right now and will be in Kindergarten at the end of February. I am having a blast in fifth grade. I used to be intimidated by this grade level but now I love it! Fifth grade has stolen my heart! The community in the school is like a close knit family. It is such a great environment to be around and get to know. It is one of the smaller schools in Vigo county. I am having such a blast here and can’t wait to see what the rest of the semester has for me!”

Now some schools may give teachers the option to wear more casual outfits to school such as jeans, t-shirts and more! Despite the dress code, always remember to dress in what makes you comfortable and fits the style that best represents you as a teacher!
