In 2 Samuel 6:14, we read, “David danced before the Lord with all his might.” Inspired by this, Faith First Dance Initiative seeks to provide youth with an intimate experience with God through worship expressed in movement.

FFDI offers various dance intensives where participants will engage with Scripture in a variety of meaningful ways—including Bible study, praise and worship, creative projects, and technique classes. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” We believe that artistic excellence should not be pursued for personal recognition, but to glorify God. Attendees will receive training in dance technique to equip them for expressive and heartfelt worship through movement.

Faith First Dance Initiative seeks to nurture the whole dancer (mind, body and spirit) while discipling the next generation of movers for Christ.

EARLY NEW YEARS INSPIRATION!

Titus 2:11-14
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”

How often do you think about the choices you make as a road map for someone that does not believe in Christ? We are set apart as believers of the One of the Most High. When people know you belong to God they will closely watch the decisions you make.

I recently spoke with someone that boldly admitted that they did not believe in Christ and had no intention of changing, but respected those who could “walk the walk”. I asked what was meant by the phrase “walk the walk” and the response is an awakening truth for every one of the Christian faith:

“Most people who say they are Christians only act that way when it is convenient for them, and when it isn’t they are like everyone else. That is why I have respect for those whose actions consistently reflect their beliefs”.

Paraphrasing of course, but isn’t this a startling reality? How often do we check ourselves to see if the choices we are making reflect what we so boldly speak?

Throughout the book of Titus, Paul explains to Titus how to teach the people of Crete the truth about our Savior, the Lord, Jesus Christ. With the new year beginning many find this as a time of reflection.

Take a moment in today’s Monday meditation to ask for God’s grace, protection and wisdom to follow the charge laid out in Titus 2:11-14. How will your actions reflect God’s mercy, grace and love to others this year?

Our frame of mind as dancers is extremely important. What we fill it with determines the decisions we will make and the kind of influence we have on others. The content with which we choose to fill our mind, heart and spirit will eventually overflow to others; especially those closest to us. Perfectionism, doubt, complaining, constant competition against the next dancer, body image and many others feed the negative cycle that eventually breaks the joy of dance that was once so strong in many of us.

In Philippians 4:8, Paul describes how to create obedience in our mindset by meditating on things that will bring us closer to Christ and filter out what will tempt us to swerve to the right or to the left (Proverbs 4:23-27).

Spend some time this week meditating on Philippians 4:8 and the prayer below. Allow God to be your protector, your Abba Father, who has willingly sacrificed his son for you! When we are weak, He is strong :)

Have a blessed week

God created our bodies to do wonderful and amazing things. Keeping them healthy is taking care of the temple He created just for you!

Take some time to dig in to 1 Timothy 4: 7-10. Paul explains the different facets in which God directs us to train, both physically and spiritually.

How is God leading you to train and discipline yourself today? Listen to His still, small voice and pursue all that is good; mind, body and spirit

We're always thrilled when science confirms yet another benefit of dance. Now, the latest research from the University of Kansas is giving us one more reason to pat ourselves on the back: A surprising new study suggests that exercise may increase self-control—like the ability to make healthier food…

So many aspects of staying healthy as a dancer, especially when pursuing a professional career, are derived from a balanced life with God at the helm.

Surround yourself with fellow believers that will support you and pray for you through the process of recovery.

Spend time every day in Scripture, allowing God to work freely in your life.

Take time to rest and cross-condition your body. Consistent injury prevention techniques will not only strengthen your body but prevent future stress physically and mentally.

Keep your focus on Jesus. He will direct your steps along the path that is right for you in His eyes (Proverbs 16:9)

As a teenager, I had a coveted place in the highest level at San Francisco Ballet School. But every night I would sit on the roof of my apartment building, wishing the gray fog would carry me away with it. I knew that the next morning I'd have to return to the studio, and my ice bucket, to soak a f....
