My last thank-you of the evening goes out to Diane Henderson who has been working on some wall hangings for Amy's House. The quilts have a Tree of Life theme showing different seasons of the year and are now featured in the north hall of the house. Spring and Summer are displayed on my living room couch. I can't wait to see how Fall and Winter turn out!

We want to recognize all the knitters from the First United Methodist Church of Belton. They provide the comforting lap throws for our guests to use at Amy's House and to take home with them.

We are excited to start a new outreach at Amy’s House. For the last few months, we have had several empty rooms available at Amy’s House due to a slowdown of transplants at Baylor Scott & White. The Board has decided to open one side of the hall for blood cell cancer patients from Baylor Scott and White on a trial basis for six months. As well as providing a haven for these patients and their caregivers, this change in policy will keep our staff busy and rooms occupied. The cancer patients are just as immune compromised as transplant patients are, so the sanitation protocol at Amy’s House will not change at all. This will not impact needy transplant patients and their caregivers because even if Amy's House is full, we have found alternative accommodations for them.

We all know that patients recover best when they are with family. HEB knows that families often socialize over a good, healthy meal together.

Amy's House certainly received THE BEST of the Wurst from Covenant Lutheran Church of Temple!!! They blessed us with half the proceeds of their recent sausage fest. We are so grateful for this donation that will help underwrite the stays of needy families at Amy's House. Pictured are some members of their committee presenting the check.

Medical Lodging for Transplant Patients, Family, and Caregivers at Trio Central Texas Chapter DBA Amy's House
Thank you to HEB for the $2500 gift recently awarded to Amy's House. This will help to feed many patients and caregivers in need, as they stay at Amy's House while receiving care at BSWH.
It is so humbling yet refreshing to see the community businesses support those who need it most. At Amy's House, we love those who love and care for our guests!
Thank you HEB for putting your money where their mouth is!
God Bless HEB!

So grateful for the help we received on the annual Day of Caring coordinated by the United Way. The team from McLane Company worked at Amy's House steaming drapes, cleaning windows inside and out, and removing weeds from the gardens.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!!!
Last for tonight, I know this is a BIG ASK.
Two members of our support group are desperately seeking a kidney. They both have type O blood. If you or someone you know has ever considered the altruistic donation of a kidney, these two patients would be so appreciative of the donation. Consider that if you are a healthy individual, you only need 1 kidney to continue living normal lives while your donated spare can save a life. Amy’s House has hosted several living donor/recipients and even some living donor/recipient chain events. The most common organ transplanted is the kidney. In fact 82% of the people waiting for an organ, need a kidney. Liver is the second most common type of transplant.
Even if being a live donor is not possible or appealing for you, please share this post about the people who need a kidney. Somebody out there may wish to make that decision to help.
