The Temple Band, "America's First Town Band" was established in 1799 in Temple, NH with it being noted in the town's history that the band played for a memorial service for George Washington on February 22, 1800.

The Temple Band, “America’s First Town Band”, will resume weekly rehearsals on Monday, January 12, from 7 to 9 pm at the Town Hall in Temple, NH.

The Temple Band, under the direction of Gordon Estabrook is an all-volunteer, non-profit, community band. Our music includes marches, swing, show tunes, Dixieland, jazz, novelty pieces, the classics, original compositions; something for everyone. Reminiscent of our origins dating to 1799, we can be identified by colonial style tri-corner hats, shirts, knickers and red, white and blue sashes.

Want to join the Band? - The Temple Band draws members, aged from 10 to 90, from the Monadnock and Souhegan Valley regions of southern NH. There are no dues, fees or auditions required, however two years’ experience on your concert band instrument is requested and a commitment to try to make half of our rehearsals and shows. All concert band instruments are welcome.
