Georgetown Church of Christ has served on the first Wednesday of every month for the past 3 years.

Each month they bring a smoked & baked chicken that we all look forward to.

But they bring so much more than the good food. They bring joy and laughter. They bring different generations together serving side by side and sharing stories with each other . The love of the Lord shines through each of them.

Today was their last Wednesday serving a hot meal.

We are so thankful for them. We know that as they serve their local community of Georgetown that wherever they go the Lord goes with them. We pray that God would be glorified and lives would be transformed through their faithfulness.

We are honored to call them friends and hope to see them real soon!

Today was International Overdose Awareness Day.

Over 68,000 individuals have died due to overdose in the past 12 months.

Thats 68,000 daughters, sons, moms, dads, brothers, grandchildren, friends, coworkers, classmates, and most importantly 68,000 sons and daughters of God.

That number doesn't even have to exist.

Overdoses dont have to happen.

We mourn with those who have lost someone they love and we fight to eradicate overdose in honor of them.

Everyone can be a part of the solution.

It requires community.
It requires proximity to those that struggle with addiction.
It requires awareness of the substances that cause overdoses.
It requires action.

❤️
On a positive note, there are 6+ individuals that were previously living on the street, battling addiction, that are in a substance use treatment program!

---
For those that may be grieving someone and need resources for counseling or grief support, please come see us at Sunrise Center. We have a great community that supports one another.

Same goes for those struggling with addiction, come see us!

Koinonoa this past Thursday was great. Texas Roadhouse donated pulled pork, rolls, salad, and or course the cinnamon butter. We also had volunteers from Baylor Scott & White Health who joined us to help serve and join in on the table discussion.

This time we had several discussion topic questions on each table and everyone took a turn picking one, then we went around the table answering. Great conversations!

We hope to see you at the next one September 17!
