What are your trust issues? 2 Samuel 10:1-5

There is a difference between “trust in man” and “trust issues.” No society or relationship will be healthy if their is no form of trust. God has entrusted with certain things. Matthew 25:14, 1 Timothy 1:11, Galatians 2:7.

Not every one gets paid the same day they work. In short some of us work a whole month or 2 weeks before you get paid. You work believing you will be paid later. Now that is trust.

Trust issue is paranoia. Definition of Paranoia from the dictionary. “An unrealistic distrust of others or a feeling of being persecuted.”

Making false accusations and the general distrust of others also frequently accompany paranoia. For example, an incident most people would view as an accident or coincidence, a paranoid person might believe was intentional.

Now their are mild paranoia and extreme, but no matter how small or big, they can cause physical, emotional and spiritual issues. A person who has trust issues will always live in fear regarding that particular situation.

So why are “trust issues” issues, because it can destroy something good. In the story that we shall read, it almost created a war. Trust issue had a problem seeing good intentions. Trust issues does not give positive thinking or good a chance. Hanun mistrust did not see good intention. Trust Issues takes bad advice easily. Is hard to differentiate a good advice and a bad advice. Hanun should have asked David what are his intentions, Trust issue does not ask questions and if he or she does, that question is usually combative. Trust issues sees everything as an opportunity for warfare. Someone with trust issue is always questioning, the reason behind their questioning is not because they lack understanding, but they ask because of the fear they have. Fear is not only damaging them, but also their relationship

Topic: A time of Depression and the 8 things depression does.

Seasons change. Lets look at what Solomon once said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

Everything does not go smoothly all the time. Before I introduce the topic today I would like to explain this first.

There comes a time in your life when you feel what you are fighting for, waiting for or doing looks and feels like a waste of time.

You ask yourself this question, “What's the point?” is still going to be the same result. Nothing will change. I will still fail. Nobody is listening. No one is cheering me and no one is encouraging me.

I call that time of reflection, a time of depression.

Is not just the weak that face depression. Even the most successful or most famous or powerful go through a time of depression.

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Ps. 42:11

What is depression? A feeling of self doubt in your abilities. It is also a doubt in hope.

Depression is also a loss of interest in an activity once enjoyed.

Feeling worthless or guilty. You find it.
Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions.
Thoughts of death or su***de.

Su***de does not just happen or the thought of it, Behind the thought of su***de is “depression.”

The 8 terrible things about depression.

1. Depression aids in killing destiny. 2.Depression corrupts the mind or ones spirit from moving forward. 3.Depression is actually a slow way of killing people. 4.Depression is sometimes it is a silent killer. 5. Depression loves to keep you away from people.
6. Depression is powerful when you are alone. 7. Depression speaks too little of you.
Depression makes you feel inferior.

How is depression a silent killer? While studying this I remembered the story of a certain comedian. Named Robin William's, his famous movie were Mrs Doubtfire, good morning vietnam, and goodwill hunting. I never knew that man to be depressed. In public he was always happy, always finding ways to make people laugh, but on August 11, 2014 he committed Su***de by Hanging himself.

Now let's turn our bible to 1 Kings 19. Before we read, let's be aware of Elijah's success before the situation in chapter 19.

Elijah was having a great time in his career as a prophet. He helped a woman pay off her debt, commanded rain not to fall, raised a boy from the dead and prayed down fire from above to consume his sacrifice.

No one before Elijah had ever raised any from from the dead or commanded that oil keep over flowing.

Sometimes in our lives things are going well, everything is positive. What can ever go wrong? You feel untouchable. Elijah went through that until 1 kings chapter 19. At the height of his career, he was challenged.

Their will always be a time something or someone will challenge us. The challenge brought Elijah into depression.

Like depression does, Elijah was willing to give up living. When is not time to go and you are giving up in life, you are actually giving up on your destiny. Things could change any moment.

Elijah was going through a time of depression and the solution he chose was to die now

What solution do you choose when you are going through your time of depression.

From Elijah we learn that not every depression needs a pill. Most times what you need is a word of assurance. 1 Kings 19:18.

But most times “assurance” does not come at an early season. God may ask you the same question he asked Elijah, “why are you here?” 1 Kings 19:9.

There are so many ways to analyze these question

Why are you in this state of mind?

Why do you want to die now?

Why are you giving up?

You and I are not alone and we will never be alone.

"SKIN FOR SKIN."

Job 2:4. Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.

I believe is best I inform you that sometimes the devil knows us. He knows how we will react when their is a terrible situation, when things do not go according to plan. He actually knows our weakness, what makes us tick. Sometimes he knows how much we can bear and unbear.

The question we each have to ask ourselves is this, “ how can I prove the devil wrong? In what way can I tell the devil that though you may know me, you cannot take what is mine.

Now perhaps the devil can take what is yours, before he does, are you ready to loose what is not great for something greater even though it looks as if their's no way you can have something greater.

What do you mean? Consider the story of Joseph. He had a good thing going on with his father. Genesis 37:3 says this, Jacob loved Joseph more than he did any of his other sons, because Joseph was born after Jacob was very old. Jacob had given Joseph a fancy coat[a] 4 to

But Joseph was hated by his brother and he was sold, lied upon and kept in prison, but Joseph never gave up on God neither on his integrity. Look at what he told portiphar’s wife in Genesis 39:8-10
But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. 9 No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” 10 And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even be with her.

What part of you are you willing to compromise all because things are not going well or because things are about to change badly.

Are you willing to fornicate or commit adultry because things are bad or about to get very bad. Am not 100% sure why Job said this in

Job 31:1: I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin?

What vows or covenant have you made with God concerning your body, your relationship, career, money, career or business?

Who and what are those things Satan can use to cause you to abandon God in your life. Satan said, “Skin for Skin.”

Everything was tested and so was the use of his wife.

Job 2:9, “His wife said to him, "Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!"

Have you or can you maintain your integrity? Next question is this, have you maintained your standard? Another question is this, have you kept yourself pure. Elijah said this words in 1 Kings 18:22.

“Then Elijah said to them, "I am the only one of the LORD's prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.”

Do you feel alone? Do you feel you are the only one carry or believing in a vision. Maybe you are the only holding right into a promise, a vision or a hope. Those vision or hope could be a ministry, a marriage, a home, a job, a business. Elijah said, he was the only one left.

Skin for skin, that's what Satan said. Would stand for long? How long will you maintain your integrity even when wife, husband, children, prophets or friends abandon you?

Now I want to point out a few things that made Job endure. You may not agree with me, but I dont think God ever helped Job during his test. Why will I say that? Let's go to Job 2:4-6,

“Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

6 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.”

May be you are here wondering if God will intervene immediately. Am here to tell you that it does not happen all the time. God strongly believes you can pass. Well are you going to disappoint him.

Their are times no matter how hard or long we pray, we are still going to be thrown into the fire or into the lion's den just like Daniel's friends and Daniel himself.

For them God's deliverance or the manifestation of his power and love was right in the pit, right in the fire and with Joseph Right in the prison.

Does your situation make you feel like you are in prison. Look at the words of Daniel when he was in the lion's den. Daniel 6:21
Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”

IF I were Daniel I would have said this words, “you bastard or son of a bitch, get me out of here or to hell with you. Or I will say, thunder fire you.

Not Daniel. Daniel is not willing to give skin for skin. Who and what is testing your patience?

The sad good thing is this, let's turn our bible to hebrews 10:36,
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

Now is so hard to say what you are going through is the will of God, but am going to tell you what is one will of God, you need to preserve, so you can do the will of God.

Jesus persevered on the cross so man can be redeemed. Your situation may actually be your cross. Mathew 16:24-26 says,
Take Up Your Cross and Follow Jesus - Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross ...

Are you going to take up this cross and follow him or are you going to take up the cross and follow someone else or are you going to ignore your cross and hope for a different load.

Am sorry their is no other load except this cross and you have to carry it because their is no graduation.

Genesis 4:1-6: Murder begins with “thoughts”

Before we go further into our topic today. I wanted to us to see what Jesus said about “murder” Mathew 5:21-22. You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother[a] will be liable to judgment; whoever insults[b] his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

You dont need a weapon to commit murder, your words in the sight of God can make you a murder.

Murder does not just begin with words, an uncontrolled emotion can result to murder. You must check and discipline your emotion or else it will reck your future. The story of Cain is a very good example.

Your emotions and your thoughts should be an indicator of what you are about to do could be good or bad. You must command it to obey the voice of the Holy Spirit.

One of your greatest battle is your mind or thoughts. In short what you think can impact you negatively or positively.

Roman's 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's.

Our thoughts can fuel up a flame and the reaction could turn out to be a deadly fire.

Your mind must be renewed or else you will always dwell in the past or have a life of insecurity.

What type of thoughts drives you. Philippians 4:8 tells us of the type of thoughts that we should have

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Our thoughts can poison what is good and it can make what is bad worst. Consider the story of Cain in Genesis 4:1-6.

God warned Cain about his emotions and thoughts. Notice that Cain was sad at first, but instead of stopping at been sad he became angry.

To be sad is most times negative, but if you feed on what is negative, it tends to grow into something worst.

How can turn a negative emotion to a positive emotion? One thing is true most times.

To avoid struggling with bad thoughts or negative emotions “First do what is right in the beginning and then is likely you will not face such bad emotions. Look at what God said in Genesis 4:7. “You know if you do what is right, I will accept you.”

Number 2 way to turn a negative emotion to positive emotion is not to dwell on it or feed it. Look at Genesis 4:7

Number 3. You have been giving power long to have control or power over your emotions, thoughts or mind. God told Cain to “take control of his thoughts.” 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Premeditated murder. Is what Cain decided to do. What is premeditated murder. The term that is used to describe a murder that was planned in advance and was carried out willfully. TLD Example: …

Remember Mathew 5:21-22. When you plan on how you will hurt people with words or actions, you are actually doing a “premeditated murder.” Getting back at someone can be premeditated, and in sight of God, it is murder.

Isaiah 26:3.You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

Now when evil thoughts come in, they corrupt the mind and your mind has no rest. Worrying distorts the mind from having peace and trusting in God.

I strongly believe that if Cain had kept his thoughts or mind on God, he would not be the first murder in the bible.

How long can we wait on God in regards to him answering a prayer?

Romans 12:12: Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Isaiah 40:31: But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Is hard to accept, but God will not reward if we have not exercised patience. Believe me, Waiting is painful, but is one of the best fruit a child of God must have.

What is patience. Defining patience by words or using it in a sentence is perhaps one of the most easiest thing to do. Preaching or teaching it is very easy, but living it, can be one of the most painful and frustrating test one can go through.

In short who likes waiting, especially if there's a quicker way of achieving something? If we could grab it now, we all or most of us will have it now.

Society wants an answer now not tomorrow. We all leave for today never thinking of what if we wait.

We are not all the same, we each have our level of waiting. In short we each tolerate waiting differently. Some can wait 5, 10, 20 or 45 years for God to answer. How short or long is your level of waiting? God promises Abraham that he will have a child when he was 75 years (Genesis 12:1-4) in short God promised him a generation out of him. It took 25 years for Abraham to have a child and even took longer for a generation to come forth. What is your level of wait when it comes to God.

While reading the book of Genesis, I noticed that God made his promise to Abraham in Genesis chapter 12. In Genesis chapter 15 Abraham was telling God this, let's look at Genesis 15:1-5.

There are certain task when it comes to faith that we can do well, with Abraham leaving Ur was easier than trusting God about possessing a land. Look at Abraham questioning God in Genesis 15:6-11.

Can you and I wait on God like Abraham did? How far can you and i go on waiting on God? Sometimes I ponder if Satan fulfills a promise faster than God Almighty, but the truth is this, what Satan gives is a trap, and what God gives, is a reward, a blessing, a show of his compassion and a promise that he will not give you something that will harm you.

If we desire God to be patient with us when it comes to our sinful nature, why can’t we be patient with God when it comes to him fulfilling our needs or wants?

There comes a time when we get tired waiting on God. Sarah was, that’s the reason she introduced her maid to Abraham. Have we grown tired waiting on God? Genesis 16:1-2. There are people asking themselves, when will I get married, have a degree, get a job, a child, a place of my own and so forth? When we can’t wait on God, we start making sloppy decisions.

Joyce meyer once said this statement in regards to patience, “patience is not simply the ability to wait, is how we behave while we are waiting.” so what are you and I doing while waiting on God?

Don't have an attitude all because you are waiting. Is like fasting, you don't have to announce it to the world by acting up.

The truth is this, we are not the first who grew tired waiting on God. Rachel, the wife of Jacob was so tired of waiting that she gave Jacob her maid to sleep with. Genesis 30:1-4.

The truth is this, when we get tired waiting on God, we start making decision or taking things into our hands, and those things or decisions that we make can turn to affect us. It affected Sarah. Genesis 16:3-5.

There are battles we could have won, but our lack of patience made us lose, and some battles lost cannot be won back because of time. Only God can make such change.

The children of israel could not wait on Moses and God, so they decided to create a God. Be careful when you are tired of waiting on God, because that's when we can easily create idols.

When we lack patience, we give up easily and the things we give up could be our marriage, our children, our career, our reason for living or our reason to believe in God.

MARRIAGE GLOVES

Matthew 18:19:

Marriage takes work. I want to talk today about marriage gloves, we all have it, or should I say most of us have it. Is bad if we always have it on.

Am not a professional boxer but in a boxing ring the boxers must always have their boxing gloves on. Some boxers are good at protecting themselves or taking a punch. Some are very good at playing the offensive or should I say been the one to throw the punches. My question to anyone here is this; “who constantly plays the offensive and who is constantly the defensive.

My wife has often told me that I like throwing jabs. Am not sure why she uses the word “jabs" but what are “jabs" when it comes to marriage?

Jabs on marriage are words or issues that hurts the feelings or emotions of someone. Jabs in marriage are known to be sarcastic in nature. Have you ever seen a boxer throwing jabs. They hurt just a little but if one keeps throwing the jab, it begins to hurt. Mohammed Ali was known to be a boxer that was good at throwing jabs.

Jabs strike at the place it hurts most. Unfortunately we have in one way or the other turned our spouse into boxing opponents.

The more you pick on an opponent's face, the more they hurt and the more their faces begins to disfigure. Our words and our jabbing can make people ugly.

Are you seeing your spouse as been ugly, the one who you thought to be much beautiful or handsome? It could be your jabbing.

I remember the movie called “color purple.” Danny glover the actor was known to abuse his wife physically and mentally. He saw her to be so ugly but yet he made love to her, but when he did, he covered her face when making love to her. She hated the s*x, and Danny Glover like a man he was just wanted to satisfy his urge. When we jab each other, it affects our s*x life. S*x becomes like a terrible ritual and sometimes like r**e.

Most physical or emotional abuse started with jabbing.

If you are not careful, the devil is waiting for us to give the final knock out.

In a boxing event or any fighting events, great cheering comes when each opponents are punching each other to see who bows or gives up. The devil enjoys marriages with gloves on and he enjoys it better when we are jabbing or punching at each other.

Don’t entertain the devil by fighting each other. The kids suffer, so do each spouse.

Let me point out another thing in boxing. The champion who won may actually be the one to suffer the greatest loss when it comes to the future of his health or physic. Let me explain. Have you heard of great boxers who won but later in they found out they are suffering from.brain damage or other kinds of physical ailment?

I was once a fan of Van Damme movies. Lately his movies are horrible. I remember a particular movie called, “lion heart.” hope the name of the movie was wrong. During the last fight scene, van dam had hurt himself before the match and he was shielding himself from been punched on the ribs.

When we start taking jabs on where it hurts the most when it comes to marriage, we are not been good, we are been evil.

Sometimes the reason why spouses keep secrets is because they are scared if their significant other will punch that area.

But why are their gloves in a marriage? Should marriage be as sweet as honey all the time. Do lovers never dislike it disapprove of each other at some time in life.

I want to point out a few things that allows gloves in a marriage. Am hoping you and I get rid of our gloves. In short if we must wear gloves, let's wear it against those that would like to see our marriage defeated. What creates gloves.

We have different ways of seeing things. Spending priorities are different.

Lot part 3 (Strangers arrive) Genesis 19

We are in a generation that hates to be corrected and unfortunate resisting wisdom and discipline will soon become the normal

In Genesis 19:14, Lot sent out a warning, “ leave this city. This place will be destroyed. Verse 14 tells us that the people of S***m and Gomorrah thought it was a joke. A time is coming and has already arrived when people will believe that the message of endtimes is a folktale or a myth. Before the financial crash of 2002, their were millions who never believed it could happen. Some never knew of the danger coming. Some knew but would not believe it.

Knowledge is not enough to save one from the great trials that are coming soon. The bible says in Revelation 9:6, that people will wish they will die because if the torment but they will never find death. Committing su***de seems to be easy based on how many we hear in the news and in the newspaper, but on that day, according to the word of the su***de shall be impossible. If you and I are not taken during the time of rapture, we will never escape the great tribulation.

According to Matthew 24:21 what is about to happen is something that the world has never seen people. It will be worst than the destruction of S***m and Gomorrah. It will be worst than the time of Noah. It will be worst than the history of Adolf Hi**er and every dictator, disease or famine that has ever taken place before. During the time of Lot, they taught it was a joke.

There are various ways to consider something to be a joke.

Never taking it serious

Leave your life as it pleases without thinking of the consequences

Deny the importance

Run from the truth

Fight against it anytime one raises it up.

Am very sure the people of S***m and Gomorrah did these 5 points listed and is what we are doing today. The message of Jesus coming back again is a joke and we dare not raise it, or else we would be laughed at.

Going back to Genesis 19:14. Is their anyone that is close to you that is not born again? You try to reach out to them, but the more you try, the harder it becomes. Don’t beat yourself so hard as been a failure. Lot tried to reach out to his son-in laws and they ignored him.

On the day of judgement we shall all stand alone. Every man and woman for himself and herself. 2 Corinthians 5:10 puts it this way, “For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us will receive what is due of us.---"

Don’t take the warning of God for granted. The generation we live in and those generation that are coming believe that God can never warn any man or punish any one. God has not lost his touch of discipline. Be very careful of messages that makes you believe that God can never get angry. Deuteronomy 9:8 says that the Lord was so angry. Has God changed? No he has not. Just because God is patient does not mean that their are no consequences for your actions. If you escape the wrath of God, congratulations, but this not mean that your time is not running out if you continue in sin.

In Genesis 19:15-16, With the coming of dawn, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away when the city is punished.”

16 When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.

Notice that context closely. The Angel rushed Lot out of the city quickly. Time is running out on all of us, if we do not hurry, if we do not take our salvation serious. We could end up as part of the things that will be destroyed.

The angel were seen as strangers. I want to ask this question today. What stranger is telling you about the wrong path you are taking in life? What stranger is telling you to let go of unforgiveness? What stranger is telling to get out of an evil company? Let us stop taking the word of God for granted like the in laws of Lot.

The Story of Lot. Part 2 (Strangers arrive)

The bible tells us how to treat strangers. Before I go further, I must inform you that the world is not how it used to be. Evil has increased. Mathew 24:12 says, “because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold. 2 Timothy 3:13 puts it this way, “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and be deceived.

Before I go further, I want to ask this question, is your faith in Christ increasing or decreasing? Is your relationship with God getting better or worse? Do you really have a relationship with God?

Let's look at what the scripture says about strangers. Mark you that Lot already knew the world he lived was evil. In Genesis chapter 14, the bible reveals to us that Lot was kidnapped (Genesis 14:12) and Abraham had to rescue him.

What am I trying to say? Don't be so scared of evil that you refuse to help strangers.

Hebrews 13:12. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing many have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Leviticus 19:34, Jeremiah 22:3, Matthew 25:35, 1 Peter 4:9.
Galatians 6:9 “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap what we sow.”

As Christians we only help those who we know or are familiar with. When was the last time you helped someone who did not look or sound like you? When was the last time you helped your enemy? Let's look at Luke 6:27. But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” Mathew 5:44 says we should pray for our enemies.

Back to Genesis 19.

Now Lot was not thinking about how evil the world was or if this people were thieves. Now am not sure if I would have done what Lot did, but I truly commend him and I hope I can do what he did.

Lot welcomed the strangers without knowing they were angels sent by God. Those you help may turn out to be the ones who would show you a way out of disaster or out of trouble.

I want us to look closely at Genesis 19:1-3. Not only did Lot give them a place to sleep, he washed their feet and gave them food to eat. If you are going to do good, then do it well. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says this,“ whatever your hands finds to do, do it with your might.

Remember the story of the good samaritan, not only did he care for the wounded man, he paid his medical bill.

If you are going to help anyone, don't be afraid to stretch out further, just like Lot.

Questioning Lot.

Now am not sure what Lot was doing, he was willing to give up his daughters for the sake of the strangers. Please do not sacrifice your kids or family for the sake of doing good. Lot said in Genesis 19:6-8. I am willing to give up my daughters who have never slept with any man.

I must point this out to you all, God will never allow you to give up your family in such a way like Lot or Abraham. Abraham wanted to kill his son, God was pleased on his obedience, but God will not allow you kill your loved one or give them up to be r**ed.

Don't be so quick in making decisions. I don't think Lot thought it through enough. Their are other things he could have done than for him to give up his daughters easily.

Place good Value on what God has given you. Don't be so fast to trade it. Look at what the bible says about our children in Psalm 127:3, “Children are a gift from the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. Don't use your kids to steal, kill or pr******te.

Where was Lot's wife when he was making this decision? Did Lot seek the advise of his wife? Fathers and mothers, make decisions together when it comes to your children. Speak out when a decision is questionable. The bible reveals no word from Lot’s wife.
