We’re excited to launch the very first ACM Labs session, a new series designed to help students sharpen their problem-solving and competitive programming skills through guided, hands-on learning.

For our first ACM Lab, we’re diving into the fundamentals of competitive programming with an ICPC Primer — perfect for anyone curious about programming competitions or wanting to strengthen their algorithmic thinking.

💡 What we’ll cover

- Prime numbers and why they matter in algorithms
- The Sieve of Eratosthenes (a powerful technique for generating primes efficiently)
- How these concepts appear in ICPC-style problems

Cybersecurity isn’t just about protecting data anymore — it’s about protecting physical reality.

This week at ACM at ASU, we hosted Dr. Hokeun Kim for a deep dive into Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) — where code meets infrastructure.

As power grids, water systems, traffic controllers, and autonomous vehicles become internet-connected, the risks expand beyond stolen passwords. Failures can cause real-world damage.

Key takeaway: prevention alone isn’t enough.
Modern systems need resilient design, anomaly detection, and strong mitigation strategies.
