The NHDAZ Student Design Committee isn't just another project. It's an opportunity to help create the official look of National History Day Arizona for 2027.

If you enjoy drawing, sketching, or graphic design, we'd love to see your creativity. Committee members will collaborate with students from across Arizona to develop original artwork inspired by this year's theme, Innovation in History: Impact, Influence, Change.

Let’s break down this year’s theme together!

The 2027 NHD theme is Innovation in History: Impact, Influence, Change.

What innovation sparks your curiosity?

Maybe it’s a groundbreaking invention. Maybe it’s a new way of thinking, governing, creating, or solving a problem. Remember, innovation isn’t just about inventing something new. It’s about the impact that idea had on people and the changes it inspired.

As you start brainstorming your project, ask yourself:
🔍 What made this innovation important?
🌍 Who did it impact?
📖 How did it influence history?
⚡ What changed because of it?

Celebrate 251+ years of Tucson with us and enjoy discounted admission to the Arizona History Museum, Tucson on Saturday, August 22, 2026! Open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., get out of the summer HEAT and enjoy walking through our COOL museum.

General Admission: $2.50
Kids 6 and under are free!

In addition to exploring our exhibits, join the Arizona Historical Society and local broadcasting legend Ray Lindstrom for a fascinating lecture on 100 years of radio history in Tucson! The lecture will begin at 11 AM, registered guests will have priority seating beginning at 10:45 AM. Seating is limited, and on a first come, first served basis for attendees that are not registered.

Get Involved with National History Day Arizona! 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼

NHDAZ is looking for students, judges, and volunteers to help make this year's program a success.

Students: Explore a topic you're passionate about while developing research, writing, and presentation skills. 📘

Judges: Share your knowledge by evaluating student projects and providing constructive feedback that helps young historians grow. 📝

Volunteers: Support competition day by assisting with event operations, welcoming participants, and helping create a positive experience for everyone involved. 🗂️

Whether you're participating, judging, or volunteering, you'll play an important role in inspiring the next generation of historians.

👩🏽‍🎨 Calling All Creative NHDAZ Students!

Do you love art, history, and bringing ideas to life? Join the first-ever NHDAZ Student Design Committee and help create the visual identity of National History Day Arizona for 2027.

As a committee member, you'll collaborate with fellow NHDAZ students from across the state to design original artwork inspired by this year's theme — Innovation in History: Impact, Influence, Change. Working alongside Arizona Historical Society staff, you'll help develop the official NHD Arizona 2027 logo and additional promotional artwork.

Committee members will participate in three virtual one-hour meetings throughout September to brainstorm ideas, refine designs, and select the final artwork together. 🧠💭

To apply:

- Upload one sample of your original artwork

Students will be selected based on their creativity, artistic style, and interest in contributing to the NHDAZ community. Committee membership is limited, with representation from multiple regions across Arizona.

This team has shared early mornings, long competition days, road trips, countless planning meetings, and more laughs than we could ever fit into one video. 🥰

Every challenge has been easier because we’ve had each other.

We’re so grateful for this team, the work we do, and the opportunity to help students discover a love of history together. Every workshop, every competition, and every student we meet is supported by a team that genuinely cares about one another and believes in this program.
