Phoenix Desert Dragons Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team

Phoenix Desert Dragons Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team We are AZ's only Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team.

Dragon Boating has been proven to increase the overall health and length of survival while decreasing the incidence of lymphedema following treatment for Breast Cancer Survivors. The goal of the Phoenix Desert Dragons team is to extend our support network to better serve the many women and men diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the Phoenix area by encouraging them to lead full and active lives, while also promoting the sport of dragon boating.

And so it begins! Today was training day for our crew and then we have some time to explore and adventure before the festival activities begin on Thursday.

We are beyond grateful for all of the support from our donors and sponsors that made all of this possible!

We paddle because we can, we paddle for those who can’t, and we paddle in honor of those that have gone before us.

A special shout out to all of our IBCPC 2026 sponsors for their generosity to make sure we look top notch with our France jerseys. Jersey design by Adams Word Press Website Design!

Our very own Phoenix Desert Dragons Breast Cancer Paddler team will be traveling to Aix-les-Bains, France on August 23rd to compete in the 2026 International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission festival on Lac du Bourget. The IBCPC festival is held every 3-4 years and this is the third time the Phoenix Desert Dragons have attended. They participated in the festival in Italy (2018) and New Zealand (2023). This year, 4500 athletes will come together in France for this participatory event in celebration of life, health, and support for those diagnosed with breast cancer. The Phoenix Desert Dragons have been fundraising and training for this event for several years now. We wish them all the best of luck!

Some of our crew will be heading off to France next week for the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission 2026 festival! ✈️🇫🇷

This has been years in the planning and intentional/focused training, even though it is a participatory event that welcomes all paddlers with a breast cancer diagnosis. We are excited to embark on this life changing event!
