We love the beautiful artwork on our new surface for our Alegre Park Playground! Thank you Oliverio Balcells for your design and work! Thank you City of Tempe for the neighborhood improvement grant to fund such projects!

The Alegre Neighborhood Association has been awarded a neighborhood improvement grant and has chosen to use it toward having artistic mosaic tile designs applied to two old irrigation standpipes in the neighborhood. Neighbors were invited to review the design proposals of 3 local artists and vote for one.

Jenn and RoniSue, Co-chairs of Alegre Neighborhood Association (ANA) will be working with the winning artist to get the project rolling. It will likely take about a year for the project to be completed. Updates will be provided as it unfolds.

There will be opportunities to volunteer for anyone who can help with related events and tasks.

Congratulations to Ana (Ananda) Aguilar⁩ for receiving Tempe’s Sustainability Achievement Award at the Tempe Neighborhood Celebration on 4/7/24! Ana and her family are residents of Alegre Neighborhood. Ana has worked tirelessly on a range of projects to improve the environment and quality of life in our neighborhood and our whole region! We are fortunate and grateful and to have Ana and her family as neighbors!

All residents of Alegre, Escalate, and Victory Acres neighborhoods are eligible to apply for one of the AMAZING, FREE energy-assistance packages being offered by the City of Tempe and the non-profit org RAIL CDC.

Hurry! You only have a few days to apply. The application deadline is MONDAY, 6/12, at NOON.

Please help us share this news with neighbors! This is a large program, and we don't want anyone to miss out.

They are offering varying packages of benefits to choose from. Each package is FREE and worth around $400. Household eligibility will be determined according to the criteria detailed in the application. Many (or most?) households in our three neighborhoods will be eligible.

Please join us for a neighborhood meeting hosted by RAIL CDC on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 6pm, at the Japanese Int'l Baptist Church at 1101 S McClintock Dr. (corner of Don Carlos and McClintock)! RAIL CDC and the City of Tempe will be taking applications for some of the FREE and DISCOUNTEd services and items they're offering to Escalante, Alegre, and Victory Acres residents to help us save energy and $$!! Food will be provided by RAIL CDC, and the time connecting with neighbors will be fun!

Draft Review Meeting: “Tempe Tomorrow General Plan 2050” Plan Your Neighborhood! MONDAY, JUNE 12, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Escalante Community Center, Sano Room, 2150 E Orange St, Tempe.

Over the past year, the city has collected feedback to create a draft general plan to carry Tempe from the near future through 2050. As neighborhoods are unique, we invite you to a local community session to see how the plan may shape your area including how the land may be used, the density and the look and feel of your community. We'll bring the snacks; you bring your thoughts and ideas!

Review the draft that has been created with multiple rounds of public input and outreach and then join us for an overview and Q&A.

To request an accommodation to participate in the meeting, please contact us with 72 hours' notice to ensure availability. General Plan 2050 is expected to be up for citywide vote in March 2024. The
