AZINA President Dr. Lakshmi Nair, Ph.D, PMHNP-BC, was joined by Mr. Mathews Jacob Puthuppally, our highly valued AZINA member⁩ and a wonderful VA Nurse and the most amazing young volunteer of AZINA Master Sidharth Nair attending the Nurses Day tabling event at VA Carl T Hayden Center in Pheonix.

We were invited by Dr. Thomas Thomas Ballan-Duràn, DNP, RN, Nurse Manager, Ancillary Care Clinics, Recruitment & Retention Chair of Phoenix VA Healthcare System, who is also the President-elect of NAHN Phoenix, National Association of Hispanic Nurses-Phoenix Chapter. We got to interact with THE Dr. Marla Weston, the former CEO of the American Nurses Association Enterprise, Dr. Lynette E. Dorsey, Associate Director of Patient Services at VA, Maj. Chad Lester, Deputy Associate Director of Patient Services. We got to hear so many amazing stories and experiences throughout our conversations. It was an amazing time of networking.

We also got to network with the Arizona Nurse Honor Guard, University of Arizona, AzNA, ASU, NAHN, Black Nurses Association, Men in Nursing and many others who had joined us! Loved our time there.

A huge shout out to @⁨Mary Minu Joji AZINA Leader ⁩ for coming and hanging out with us at our table and giving us breaks, Boby Jose, Rajesh, Meera, Sindhu Thomas and many other nurses of Indian origin and AZINA who came to see us at the table and clicked a pic with us!

Deepened saddened by the loss to nursing community! She was recognized as one of the most influential nurse scientists and theorists in nursing. 🙏🏽

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Jacqueline M. Fawcett, PhD, RN, FAAN, a towering figure in nursing scholarship and one of the most consequential voices in the intellectual history of our profession. Over a career spanning more than 45 years, Dr. Fawcett dedicated herself to advancing nursing as a discipline grounded in its own theory, knowledge, and science.

Dr. Fawcett also gave generously to the profession through service, including her leadership on the ANA-Maine board of directors from 2023 to 2025.

"Dr. Fawcett was one of nursing's most important scholars, and her loss is felt deeply across our entire community," said ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. "She dedicated her life to building the intellectual foundations of our profession, and the contributions she made to nursing will endure for generations. Her work challenged all of us to think more ambitiously about what nursing is and what it can be. Dr. Fawcett’s work was instrumental to my own nursing education, and I am deeply grateful for the way she informed who I am today.”

ANA extends its deepest condolences to Dr. Fawcett's family, her colleagues, and the many nurses and scholars whose lives and careers she shaped.
