Our hearts are broken and saddened today as we said goodbye to our very handsome boy Axel. Axel was found wondering the streets in Perris, he was in very bad shape, we reached out to Maria at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County and she without hesitation said get him to our vet. We got him there just in the nick of time, Dr. D said he was beyond dehydrated and would nost likely have passed in the night. He spent a few night and bounced back to where we could bring him home and rehab him. The morning we picked him up he was a different dog and it only got better. Axel became healthy and was up for adoption and went to a few event with GSROC, but when he didnt find his new home we decided he was home, so he stayed with us. Axel loved greeting all the new rescues that came in, he found his best friend in Penny and Butters and when Butters passed, our sweet Etta became the new trio. Since Etta passing it has been just him and Penny hanging together, they both greet the new rescues and current fosters and make them feel at home. About a year ago Axel was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, we fought hard to keep it under control. Dr Gill tried every new medication and treatment there was, it gave him a year but the past few day he had stopped eating and when he did eat he couldn't keep it down, in our hearts we knew he was tired of the fight and wanted to rest. He crossed the bridge peacefully this morning knowing he was loved beyond words and we told him to catch up all our fur babies on what was happening down here. Fly free sweet boy, you were loved beyond words and we will miss you and I know your BFF Penny will be sleeping on your bed tonight, she will surley miss her best friend. We love you Axel.. πΎπππ
