Mientras el gran santo Abba Shenouda, Archimandrita y Padre de los Monjes, estaba de pie fuera de su celda orando, la piedra sobre la cual solía sentarse se partió repentinamente en dos.

Esta fue la señal de la partida de San Abba Tomás el Ermitaño (el Peregrino).

En aquel momento, Abba Shenouda dijo:

“El desierto de Shenshef ha perdido su lámpara resplandeciente.”

Inmediatamente apareció el Arcángel Rafael en una gloria radiante y, señalando con su mano derecha a Abba Shenouda, le dijo con una voz llena de paz:

“La paz sea contigo, amigo de Dios y amado por todos los santos. Ven, vayamos a preparar y sepultar el cuerpo de San Abba Tomás.”

Entonces Abba Shenouda se levantó y llamó a Abba Wissa (su discípulo), Abba Yousab, Abba Enoc y Abba Tamarinus, y se apresuraron hacia la cueva de San Abba Tomás para preparar su santo cuerpo para la sepultura.

Mientras envolvían el cuerpo, nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a quien sea la gloria, estaba presente, y con Él estaba el profeta David, entonando sus salmos.

Con gran reverencia envolvieron el bendito cuerpo y lo sepultaron en el mismo lugar donde había vivido su vida de santidad, oración y ascetismo.

Que las bendiciones de sus santas oraciones estén con todos nosotros. Amén. 🙏✝️

While the great saint Abba Shenouda the Archimandrite was standing outside his cell in prayer, the stone on which he used to sit suddenly split into two halves.

This was the sign of the departure of Saint Abba Thomas the Hermit.

At that moment, Abba Shenouda said:

“The wilderness of Shenshef has lost its shining lamp.”

Immediately, Archangel Raphael appeared in radiant glory and, pointing with his right hand toward Abba Shenouda, said in a voice full of peace:

“Peace be to you, friend of God and beloved of all the saints. Come, let us prepare and bury the body of Saint Abba Thomas.”

Abba Shenouda arose and called Abba Wissa (his disciple), Abba Yousab, Abba Enoch, and Abba Tamarinus, and they hastened to the cave of Saint Abba Thomas to prepare his holy body for burial.

While they were wrapping the body, our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory, was present, and with Him was the Prophet David, chanting his psalms.

They reverently wrapped the blessed body and buried it in the very place where he had lived his life of holiness and asceticism.

May the blessings of their holy prayers be with us all. Amen. 🙏
