Building a better community isn't only about programs, events, donations, or organizations.
It begins with something much simpler:
How we treat people.
Every day, we have opportunities to make someone feel seen, respected, appreciated, and valued.
It may be a business owner working hard to keep their doors open. A volunteer giving their time. A young person who needs encouragement. A senior who deserves to be heard. An employee working behind the scenes. Or someone serving our community whose contribution may rarely receive recognition.
At IVBCF, we believe community leadership means recognizing that every person matters.
Encourage people when they're trying.
Thank people when they serve.
Recognize people when they contribute.
Create opportunities when you have the ability to open a door.
And when someone is working to build a better future for themselves, their family, their business, or their community—look for ways to support them.
We don't always know what someone is going through, and sometimes a simple act of kindness or respect can have a much greater impact than we realize.
Strong communities aren't built by one person. They're built when people choose to value one another.
