Next up for our get to know our members series is Marine Corps veteran, Jolene. Jolene has been on the posse for 1 year and is currently serving as our secretary. She joined because she has a passion for serving her community and enjoys the camaraderie that the mounted posse offers. She is thankful for the training opportunities that keep her, and her horse prepared to safely be of service.

Jolene has been around horses since she was 6 and participated in the Lake Elsinore Rodeo Queen competitions for a few years in her youth.

Her partner in preventing crime is Koda. She’s a 9-year-old seal brown bay Andalusian Quarter Horse, “Azteca”. She likes getting out to see new places and being of service during community events. Koda loves getting to see all the kids and adults that come up to pet her and if she really likes you, she will curl her neck around you for a big horse hug.
They are both looking forward to continuing posse training to be prepared for bigger events in the future.

Several of our posse members spent the evening at the Riverside County Sheriff Southwest Station Employee & Family Appreciation BBQ. It was good food and good company. We appreciate all who serve our wonderful community in any and all capacities.

Next up for our get to know our members series is Sharalyn. Sharalyn has been on the posse for 1 year and is currently servicing as our Vice President. She joined because she recently became an empty nesters and since her family all serve in similar fields the mounted pose was a natural fit for her.

Sharalyn loved horses since she was a child and got her first one when she was in 7th grade at boarding school. Her love for horses has continued to last her lifetime.

Her partner in preventing crime is, Tango. He is a 7 year old Paint. He is a super sweet and loves being around people and loves being a posse horse.

Sharalyn is looking forward to many more years of serving her community as a proud posse member.

Stay tuned for our next posse member to be featured next week.

Our posse was asked to participate in the Canyon Lake Fiesta Day Parade that took place yesterday. Our members Dave, Shary and Steve rode through the parade on horse back while posse members Louis and Jolene did ground support. It was a great time and we look forward to doing it again next year.

Did you see us out there? Always feel free to come and say hi if you ever see us out on patrol.

Ready to get to know some of our awesome members?
First off we will start with Deborah Casteel. She joined the Lake Elsinore mounted posse in 2015 and is now serving as President of the troop. She joined because she wanted to be able to do something with her horse while also helping people. Her favorite things about serving is being able to interact with the community.

She grew up around the racetracks where her dad was a race horse trainer and that sparked her love for horses that has lasted a lifetime.

She is currently serving with her partner in preventing crime, Duke. He is 25 year old Appaloosa. She is borrowing him from another posse member since her most faithful servant and life long horse friend, Wyatt, got to retire just last year. Wyatt is 24 year old Passofino, that is enjoying his well earned retirement.

Stay tuned for our next “get to know our members” installment coming next week.

Hello and welcome to the new page for the Lake Elsinore and Temecula Sheriff’s Mounted Posse unit. We just want to share some of our adventures while out on patrol and hope you enjoy seeing our beautiful horses as much as we love sharing them. Because let’s be honest, they are the real stars of the group. If we didn’t have the horses, we would just be running around banging coconut shells together, although funny, not very practical
