We’re celebrating the wonderful day at the Treasure Box Workshop hosted by Rocky Mountain Arts at Telluride Wheelhouse in Illium last Saturday.

Six talented young participants, ages 11–18, spent a few hours creating unique, personal treasure boxes—each one as special as the artist behind it. It was inspiring to see their creativity come to life and the pride they took in making something meaningful to keep their own treasures in.

One parent shared:
“It was great to meet you today. Thank you for helping my kids have such a great experience today. They really enjoyed it!”

Moments like these are exactly why we do what we do 💛

We’re doing it again this Saturday, the 9th! Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up in advance. Email [email protected]

We can’t wait to create more memories together!

Over the past six months, something wonderful has been happening to the youth-created gazebo.

The metal roof is developing a beautiful patina. The spaceship door handles now have a whimsical “plume of smoke.” A trashcan has mysteriously appeared inside. And, the furniture keeps getting rearranged—quietly adapting to how people actually use the space.

These small changes mean something big: the gazebo is alive. It’s being cared for, adjusted, and claimed by the community.

A special thank-you goes to artist and youth gazebo instructor Bob Hoehn, who has been keeping a watchful eye on it and fixing or replacing things as needed. His ongoing care helps ensure this space continues to welcome everyone.

We are absolutely thrilled to see this structure—imagined and built by young artists—become a place where people gather, rest, and make it their own. This is what public art looks like when it truly belongs to everyone.
