National Night Out is just over a week away!

As we get closer to this exciting community event, we want to take some time to recognize the outstanding partners who are helping make this year’s National Night Out even more special.

In addition to the many public safety agencies, organizations, and community resources participating, we’re fortunate to have several local businesses and community partners sponsoring activities, giveaways, and other special experiences for everyone to enjoy.

🚨 WHY SO MANY QUESTIONS?🚨

When you call 911, or call Central Dispatch to request a service, it can feel frustrating when the dispatcher asks questions instead of immediately sending someone. But there is an important reason for every question.

📍 LOCATION MATTERS.
Your phone may not provide your exact location. Dispatchers need the address, apartment number, business name, intersection, or other details to make sure responders know exactly where to go.

👤 IDENTIFICATION MATTERS.
Your name, date of birth, or other identifying information can help dispatchers make sure they have the right person and the right information.

🚔 DETAILS MATTER.
What is happening? Who is involved? Are there weapons? Is anyone injured? Has the situation changed? These details help dispatchers determine what resources are needed and help officers, firefighters, and EMS prepare before they arrive.

⏱️ QUESTIONS DO NOT MEAN HELP IS BEING DELAYED.
In many situations, responders can be dispatched while the dispatcher continues gathering important information. The questions help ensure the right help gets to the right place as quickly and safely as possible.

☎️ If a dispatcher tells you to “stay on the line,” please do so if it is safe. Help can be sent while additional information is being gathered.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
• Stay calm and listen carefully.
• Answer questions honestly and as clearly as possible.
• Give your location first.
• Follow the dispatcher's instructions.
• Stay on the line until you are told you can hang up.
• Call back if the situation changes.

Our 911 dispatchers are often the first, first responders. They are working to get you the help you need while gathering information that can make a difference when responders arrive.

The Perry County Fraternal Order of Police extends our deepest sympathy towards the family and the community of Lynn Town Marshal, Brad Fisher, who was killed in the line of duty this morning, July 29, 2026. Thoughts and prayers for our brother.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at U.S. 36 and U.S. 27 in Randolph County.

Three years ago tonight, our department, our city, and countless lives changed forever.

While time has continued to move forward, the absence of Heather has never faded. There isn’t a day that goes by that she isn’t remembered in our hallways, our patrol cars, or in the hearts of those who had the privilege of serving beside her. Her sacrifice is forever woven into the history of the Tell City Police Department.

As we approach the third anniversary of her End of Watch, we remember not only the tragedy of that night, but the extraordinary life she lived. We honor her courage, her dedication to this community, and the example she set for all who wear the badge.

Tonight, we also keep in our thoughts and prayers Heather’s family and friends, our law enforcement family, and all those whose lives were forever changed by that tragic night. We recognize that this anniversary carries a profound weight and brings with it emotions that are difficult to put into words.

Heather’s watch ended, but her legacy never will. Her service continues to inspire us, her memory continues to guide us, and her sacrifice will forever remain a part of who we are.

Join us for a special occasion!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Tell City Police Department and the City of Tell City cordially invite members of the community to attend a special dedication ceremony honoring the life, service, and sacrifice of Sergeant Heather J. Glenn.

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. CDT at City Hall Park in Tell City.

During the event, a memorial monument honoring Sgt. Glenn will be formally unveiled, and a portion of State Road 237 will be officially commemorated through a highway renaming in her memory.

Sergeant Glenn dedicated her life to serving and protecting the citizens of Tell City. Her courage, commitment, and selfless service continue to inspire our department and community. This ceremony provides an opportunity for family, friends, fellow first responders, and community members to gather in remembrance and ensure her legacy is preserved for future generations.

The program will include remarks from local officials, special guests, and law enforcement representatives, as well as the monument unveiling and highway dedication presentation.

The public is encouraged to attend as we come together to honor a fallen officer whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

PAINT THE TOWN BLUE

The members of Perry County FOP Lodge 137 invite our community to help us "Light the Town Blue" from now through July 4th.

We encourage residents, businesses, churches, and organizations throughout Perry County to display blue lights on their homes, storefronts, porches, and properties as a visible sign of support.

This effort serves two important purposes:

-To honor and remember Sgt. Heather Glenn, whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

-To show support and appreciation for the dedicated men and women of Perry County Law Enforcement who continue to serve and protect our communities every day.

A simple blue light can send a powerful message of remembrance, gratitude, and unity. Together, we can light up Perry County and demonstrate that we stand behind those who wear the badge and the families who support them.

Join us as we Light the Town Blue through July 4th.

The Indiana State Fraternal Order of Police asks everyone across our state to keep LaPorte County Sheriff’s Deputy Jon Samuelson in their thoughts and prayers following this morning’s line-of-duty shooting in Michigan City.
Deputy Samuelson remains in critical condition as he courageously battles through his injuries. During this difficult time, we stand in full support of Deputy Samuelson, his family, his fellow deputies, and the entire LaPorte County law enforcement community.
May he find strength in the overwhelming support surrounding him, and may he make a full and swift recovery.
