The Tehachapi Warriors Booster Club was once again the benefactor of the incarcerated population at the California Correctional Institution, Tehachapi and their food facility sales.

The most recent donation, totaling $6,600, will benefit all Tehachapi High School athletic programs and the Warrior Booster Scholarship Fund. This is the second donation from the CCI facility food sales program, last year the incarcerated inmates donated over $8,500 to the Booster Club a part of the initiative that provides a direct economic boost to local businesses while introducing unique dinging options that help normalize institutional living conditions. Ultimately, a portion of the proceeds from these sales generated were donated to Warrior Boosters and Tehachapi Falcons Roller Hockey.

“We’re proud to be able to host events which benefit the City of Tehachapi, while also promoting normalization within our incarcerated population,” said Acting Warden Thomas Valdez.

CCI is dedicated to establishing rehabilitative opportunities that enable the incarcerated population to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

“We are blessed to have such wonderful leadership at CCI in Tehachapi that reinvests in the community through these unique programs,” said Booster Club President Corey Costelloe. “We want to thank the incarcerated individuals for selecting us once again to be a benefactor, these funds are critical in developing young leaders and keeping them away from the path of incarceration through athletics and academics.”

The Tehachapi Warriors Booster Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises funds for athletic teams at Tehachapi High School. In 2026-27, the Booster Club is funding the athletic trainer position, which was set to be cut from the Tehachapi Unified School District budget. Along with the CCI donation and corporate sponsorships, the Booster Club has raised over $43,000 this summer to meet student-athlete needs for the coming seasons.

Former record-setting Tehachapi High School and Bakersfield College kicker Carter Kolesar signs with Division I UT Martin.

In a late summer signing, former Tehachapi High and Bakersfield College kicker Carter Kolesar has joined the University of Tennessee at Martin as a rostered kicker.

Kolesar spent last season at BC serving as the teams full time kickoff specialist before taking over the placekicking duties in week 9. In two games as the team’s primary kicker he went 1-1 on FG attempts and 3-3 on extra point attempts converting on all four of his scoring opportunities.

Prior to Bakersfield College Kolesar was a record-setting kicker at Tehachapi High School where he broke multiple school records including kicking the longest field goal in program history in 2024. He was named the 2024 Hometown Sports Special Teams Player of the Year.

Kolesar trained at Alvarez Kicking Camps since 2023 continuing his development as a place kicker and kick off specialist. His move to UT Martin adds another name to the long storied list of Alvarez Kicking Camps students who have moved on to compete above the junior college level.

Kolesar will now continue his career at UT Martin, a nationally ranked FCS program competing for the Skyhawks’ special teams unit in the Ohio Valley Conference . Their first game is Thursday against Central Arkansas at 4:30 PM Pacific time and is available on ESPN+.

Couple of housekeeping items prior to Friday’s home opener. First, Green Seats. They are reserved by members who have already paid for their reservation this season. Do not sit in the Green section if you don’t “own” the seat. We ran in to several entitled “adults” last season who felt like they could make their own rules, hence we have to make posts like this. There will also be 10-20 clearly marked reserved parking spaces for Booster members and corporate sponsors who paid for that perk in the north parking lot. If your name is not on the sign, do not park there. Both seats and parking applies for JV and Varsity games. Please share with new parents, fans and others that might not be aware so we can have a smooth Friday night!
