FF Mike Altman of the Chicago Fire Department, assigned to Truck 47, was critically injured March 16th while doing what he always did- putting others first. After some time in Cook County Hospital’s burn unit, he has tragically has passed away from his injuries.

Mike and his family are in our thoughts. Rest easy, brother.

Tyler kicked off his first tour with 24 total hours of hands on training.

Over the two days, members of the Tega Cay Juniors, along with a former Junior now serving as a volunteer, joined in throughout the evolutions.

Some of the training topics included:

• Timed don/doff drills
• Timed mask-up, with gloves
• SCBA confidence drills
• Ground ladders
• Hoseline deployment
• RIT pack overview
• Engine 2 inventory
• Engine 2 district familiarization
• Gear acclimation

Please join us in congratulating Tyler and Mike on graduating from the South Carolina Fire Academy, Class 26003, on February 27, 2026.

Both firefighters have completed the academy’s training program and are returning to shift ready to serve the citizens of Tega Cay.

• Tyler is currently assigned to Engine 2A.
• Mike is currently assigned to Engine 2B.

We are proud of the hard work, discipline, and commitment they demonstrated throughout the academy process.

• Water can and ABC extinguisher
• Full complement of BLS medical bags (protected under tarp)
• Rear dump bed
• Heavy-duty recovery strap
• Configurable platform — equipment adjusted per call type
• Seating for 8 personnel (6 cab / 2 rear)

Designed for off-road incidents, special events, and rapid access in restricted areas.

We are thankful for our Chief’s leadership and efforts in bringing this equipment to our department to better serve our community.
