🚓❄️ From Lockdown to Local Love ❄️🚧

As we thaw out after four long days of full winter lockdown, we want to pause and say a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to the teams who showed up while the rest of us were bundled up in sweatpants and blankets.

👏 Tecumseh Police Department
👏 Pottawatomie County Emergency Management
👏 City of Tecumseh Street Crew

Thank you for keeping us safe, keeping us informed, and clearing roads so our community can move again. Your long hours, cold hands, and steady leadership did not go unnoticed.

Now… let’s talk re-entry 😄
After four days at home, some of us are:

👖Unsure how jeans work anymore
💬A little rusty on small talk
🏠Debating if we really need to leave the house

Good news: the cure is simple → get out and go local.

💙 Here’s the serious part (and it really matters):

Our small businesses lost several days of operation during this storm. That means lost revenue and fewer hours for employees who rely on those paychecks to support their families.

These are the same businesses that:

🏀Sponsor our schools and teams
🎡Support community events
💲Donate to fundraisers
👷Employ our friends, neighbors, and family members

They show up for Tecumseh every day of the year.

👉 Now it’s our turn to show up for them.

Grab coffee. Eat lunch out. Run that errand in town. Book the appointment. Shop local before you shop elsewhere.

A small choice from you can make a big difference for someone else.

Let’s come out of isolation the Tecumseh way;
connected, supportive, and stronger together. 💛🖤

❄️ Snowed In? Perfect Time for a Big Announcement… ❄️

While you’re cozy at home—coffee in hand, blankets piled high—we have something exciting to share so you don’t miss out while the snow falls.

🎉 BIG NEWS: Our Annual Auction on March 5 is officially moving to the GRAND BALLROOM at Grand Casino!

That’s right—after selling out the past two years in the smaller ballroom, we’re leveling up. More space means:

✨ More room to mingle
✨ More movement
✨ More energy
✨ More FUN

If you’ve attended before, you know this is one of our largest and most interactive evenings of the year. If you haven’t—this is your sign. 😉

Our Annual Auction is also our main fundraiser, and your participation helps us continue the work we care deeply about:

🤍 Promoting local businesses
🎓 Investing in education & scholarships
🏘️ Creating opportunities for connection, celebration, and community

So while the roads are quiet and the snow is falling… take a moment to get registered and secure your spot. This one will fill up! This event is open to everyone. Chamber membership is not required, so there's no reason not to join in on the fun with us!

❄️ A Snow-Covered Morning in Tecumseh ❄️

We’re waking up to a full blanket of white, and if you’re anything like us, there’s a sense of childhood awe in seeing our town so still and snow-covered. Moments like this don’t come often in Oklahoma, and there is a quiet beauty in slowing down and taking it all in.

That said, this snow comes with dangerously cold temperatures. Today’s high is expected to remain in the single digits, with wind chills below zero. If you or your children plan to enjoy the snow, please keep the cold in mind and prepare appropriately with layers, gloves, hats, and limited time outdoors.

We hope everyone was able to prepare to stay off the roads today and likely tomorrow, as a heavier wave of snow is expected to move through later today. Safety remains the priority as conditions continue to evolve.

A heartfelt thank-you to Pottawatomie County Emergency Management for keeping our community informed and prepared. We also encourage you to follow the Tecumseh Police Department on Facebook for local updates, some wonderful pictures, and important Tecumseh-specific information.

For now, we hope you’re finding a little joy in this snowy pause:

☕ Cozy mornings
📚 A good book
🎲 Board games
⛄ Snowmen and snowy memories

Tell us—how are you spending your snow day? ❄️🤍

❄️ A Community Check-In as Winter Weather Approaches ❄️

As we head into the weekend, Pottawatomie County Emergency Management is closely monitoring a winter storm that could bring significant snow, icy conditions, and dangerously cold temperatures to our area. Make sure to follow their page for the most up to date information for our community.

We don’t share this to create worry—but to help our community feel prepared, supported, and connected.

A few things to consider before the storm arrives:

🔋 Stock up on batteries and check flashlights
📺 Download shows, movies, or audiobooks in case internet service is interrupted. Or go by Pioneer Library System for some old-fashioned page turners. ;)
🧤 Gather extra blankets, warm clothing, and plan how you’ll stay warm if power is lost
🚗 Take care of errands and prescriptions early if possible
🤍 Check in on neighbors, especially seniors or those who may need extra help

For our local business owners:

• Consider communicating hours or adjustments early
• Give grace to your team and your customers
• Safety comes first, and your community understands

One of the things that makes Tecumseh special is how we show up for one another, especially in moments like these.

Stay safe, stay warm, and take care of each other.

We hope to see you tomorrow morning for our first workshop of the year. Leslie Merritt will be bringing you actionable items to help get you moving in the right direction, efficiently and effectively.

We’re kicking off 2026 the right way and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Leslie Merritt, owner of Webspinups and a Techlahoma Foundation Ambassador, for our January Workshop!

January is full of resolutions, and this one is for your business. 📈

Leslie will walk us through an easy, practical way to plan content with intention so you’re not scrambling week to week. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to set clear themes and goals for the year and build a realistic 90-day plan you can actually stick to.

If consistency has been on your wish list (and sanity too 😉), this workshop is for you.

Join us, start strong, and leave with clarity, confidence, and a plan in hand!

#🧠✨ TRY ONE THING: Add Mental Health & Margin ✨🧠

A healthier year isn’t just about doing more; it’s about creating space.

This week, we’re focusing on mental health and margin by adding rest, clarity, or support back into our lives. Because when we’re constantly pouring out, something eventually runs empty.

✔️ No rules
✔️ No guilt
✔️ Just one small addition

That “one thing” might look like carving out time for you — whether that’s a little pampering and a fresh new look at Beauty Barn or boosting your confidence by adorning yourself in a new outfit from Define Boutique.

💥Self-care isn’t selfish.

It’s how we reset, recharge, and show up better for everything else.

Sometimes adding margin is as simple as choosing something that helps you feel refreshed, confident, and cared for — even if it’s just for a moment.

So this week, ask yourself:
What’s one thing I can add that supports my mental well-being?

Then go do it — you’re worth it. 💛🖤

🚶‍♀️🎶 TRY ONE THING: Move Your Body 🎶🚶‍♂️

This weekend, movement doesn’t need to be intense, tracked, or perfect.

It just needs to happen.

TRY ONE THING this week:

🚶 Add a 10-minute walk
🧘 Add light stretching once
🎶 Add movement you actually enjoy

No pressure. No tracking. Just movement.

And the good news? We don’t have to go far to make it happen.

Take a quick stroll down Broadway, walk the trails at Slick Humphrey Park, soak in the beauty of Tecumseh Lake during your lunch break — or head over to the Tecumseh Post 260 American Legion to enjoy live bands and dancing for movement that feels more like fun than exercise.

Small moments of movement, right where you are, can make a big difference.

Sometimes the best habit is the one you’ll actually repeat — so make moving a priority in your day, in the spaces our community already gives us.

So… what’s the one thing you’re adding this week? 💛

🚶‍♀️✨ TRY ONE THING: Move Your Body (No Gym Required!) ✨🚶‍♂️

Movement doesn’t have to look like a gym membership, a perfect routine, or an all-or-nothing commitment.

Sometimes, it just looks like showing up.

This week’s Try One Thing is about adding movement in a way that feels doable (and even fun) especially when we do it together.

🙌 TRY THIS:

Check out the event calendar at Pioneer Library System and join their new SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) program happening two days a week right here in Tecumseh. It’s movement, connection, and encouragement, no pressure attached.

👉 Find the calendar here:
https://library-connect.services.pioneerlibrarysystem.org/patron/events?location=Library

OR…

🥗💪 Make it a fun evening out and join First United Bank - Tecumseh on January 20th at 4:00 PM for their Exercise & Eats event, featuring a cooking demo and fitness class, partnered with Pogo - A Blue Zones Certified Community.

✔️ No rules
✔️ No guilt
✔️ Just one small addition

Because movement that fits your life — and includes community — is movement that lasts.

So… what’s the one thing you’ll try this week?
Tag a friend and invite them to join you 💛👏

🥗✨ TRY ONE THING: Add Something Nutritious! ✨🥗

This week, we’re NOT talking about cutting foods, skipping treats, or saying no to everything you love.

We’re talking about adding something good to your day. 🙌

✔️ No rules
✔️ No guilt
✔️ Just one small, nourishing addition

That one thing could be treating yourself to a homemade, absolutely delicious meal from The Farmer's Daughter Market which is perfect for a relaxed dine-in lunch or a grab-and-go option when life is busy.

Need something quick? FireLake Foods Grocery makes it easier than ever to choose better fuel, with healthier alternatives right at the checkout (yes, even where the impulse snacks live!) and tons of fresh food choices throughout the store.

Healthy doesn’t have to be complicated.
And it definitely doesn’t have to be boring.

When you fuel your body locally, everybody wins. 💛🖤

So tell us — what’s the one nutritious thing you’re adding this week?

✨ Introducing the Try One Thing Challenge ✨

January doesn’t have to be about cutting everything out, starting over, or feeling guilty about what you didn’t do.

This year, we’re flipping the script.

Welcome to our Try One Thing Challenge. A simple, feel-good way to focus on what you can add to your life to make it more enjoyable, supportive, and sustainable.

✔️ No rules
✔️ No guilt
✔️ Just one small addition

That’s it.

Maybe it’s fueling your mid-afternoon slump with a refreshing energy tea from Savage Nutrition instead of powering through exhausted or downing a not-so-healthy alternative.

You don’t have to change everything.
You don’t have to be perfect.

Just try one thing — once — and see how it feels.

We’ll be sharing simple prompts often to help you add more good into your days, all while supporting the amazing local businesses that help make life in Tecumseh a little sweeter.
