Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County

Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County We meet the needs of the Jewish community and beyond. Every human is a member. Classes, counseling, k Don’t argue with him. Instead, be one with him.

The approach of Friends of Lubavitch today mirrors that of the Baal Shem Tov in his time: Look past the outward person and trust in the soul deep inside. You may disapprove of everything he does, and his outlook on life may be the opposite of everything you believe. Unconditionally. You enjoy Shabbat--enjoy it with him. You find solace and counsel in the wisdom of Torah--talk to your holy brothers

and sisters about that wisdom in their own language, on their own terms. And if he or she does not change one iota, that is irrelevant. You have done your job of love. Two Jews became one and that is all that matters. Our Chabad House is a center established to facilitate all of the above. Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County hosts classes, lectures, and workshops on Jewish topics; holds religious services; offers Shabbat meals; and special events as needed in that community. We offer counseling services, the Friendship Circle for physically or mentally challenged children, and other volunteer services are common. We have an active teen program, community seders, kashering and mezuzah services, and are available to help in any way we can. Our Chabad House does not charge membership--every human is a member. The Jewish People, the Zohar tells, is the heart of all the nations. When there is love and oneness among us, peace and harmony enter the entire world. When our light is pure and focused, the darkness in their hearts is pushed away as well. And so this is the mandate of Chabad: To create light for the sake of light, just by doing good for the sake of doing good, until all the world is filled with the serene light of G-dly wisdom “as the waters cover the ocean floor.”

Thank you to all who have so generously responded to our year end campaign below. The auction ends a week from today and we have raised so far $25,000 and are still $20,000 short of covering our budget for the year.

If you have been touched by Chabad in any way during the year, please consider helping us be there to help others.

Thank you!
Wishing you all a happy Chanuka!
Rabbi Simon

As we approach the end of 2016, which coincides with the end of our fiscal year here at Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County, it's time to reflect on the past and resolve for the future. We have had an incredible year of helping so many in our community. From our preschool, summer camp, hospital and nursing home visitations, our teen chesed groups, our Sunday school for public school teens, our adult education classes, our holiday programs, crisis counseling, our Chabad house, new outreach at FDU and so much more, we have been here for every age group and every segment of our community. We raise every penny of our annual budget ourselves and as the year comes to a close we find ourselves $45,000 short. My goal is to raise the $45,000 by the end of this month so we can cover this deficit (which is a small percentage of our annual budget) and continue the work that we do at even greater pace in 2017.

We run our Chabad house on a mix of idealism and realism. On one hand, often we have programs and classes, reaching out to and helping every person we are able to assist, without always knowing how we are going to cover our expenses. We put people first. On the other, I have always made a concerted effort and have been successful (Thank G-d) at closing every year in the black. This way we do not operate with a deficit and can continue being there to help others. I don't want this year to be any different.

We have no large staff, no office staff, no bureaucracy. Just two rabbis, a staff of teachers and a preschool director that make it all happen! This means every penny of your donation goes right where it should - directly helping others.

Normally, I send a letter asking for your help at the end of the year. However, this year we have a wonderful opportunity - an online Chinese Auction - which allows you to help us while having the chance to win an awesome prize. We partnered together with 12 other organizations to make this happen. The best part about it is our side of the partnership was completely sponsored by a generous donor. This means EVERY PENNY you put into the auction comes straight to us and you'll be issued a tax receipt for your donation. So bid away knowing that you are enabling us to continue to do the work we do for our community. You could win an awesome prize while helping us continue to help our community.
