This Friday: Open Mic Variety Night! We invite members and visitors to the stage for entertaining music, poetry, and storytelling. Sign up at the door–starting at 6:30 pm–to participate or just show up to appreciate! Suggested donation: $5.

A piano and sound equipment is available; snacks and beverages available for purchase. Join us!

Our Family & Friends circle tasted the difference between orchard and supermarket fruit, explored where our food comes from, and discussed farm worker rights as part of their apple-picking adventure in Newburgh, NY, last Sunday.

It's not too early to put our Not Too Spooky Haunted House on your Halloween calendar: Saturday, Oct. 31, 4-7 pm.

This Haunted House, our transformed meetinghouse and grounds, will be full of giggles, not gore, perfect for kids and fun-loving adults alike. Visitors will wind through a maze of lighthearted Halloween activities, from friendly ghosts and wacky witches to games, trick-or-treating, and more.

Expect about 45 minutes of laughter, surprises, and fun, plus candy and prizes for every child. Costumes encouraged!

Entry fee is $5 for everyone age 3 and up, and proceeds support our youth programs, including STEM enrichment and ethical-action opportunities. Come enjoy the fun side of Halloween!

Several lucky members joined hosts Ken and Terri Karp for a private tour of Rutgers University’s Chrysler Herbarium, which has more than 200,000 preserved plant specimens. Collections Manager Megan R. King highlighted the beauty and scientific value of New Jersey's largest research collection.

Our Social Action Fair on Sunday gave members and visitors an opportunity to connect with like-minded organizations working in the community. Our Family & Friends Circle made pizzas and many of our member musicians created a coffeehouse vibe for participants. Good work all around!

Tonight was a stellar celebration of music. Huge thanks to all the talented performers who shared their creativity, and to our amazing organizers for putting together such a memorable evening.
We're thrilled to announce our next Open Mic Night on October 16 at 7:00PM (signups start at 6:30PM). Whether you're a seasoned performer or a first-timer, we invite you to join us for another fantastic night of artistic expression. Bring your talent, your friends, and your enthusiasm!

Members and friends of all ages joined our Social Action Committee's non-partisan Get out the Vote event yesterday. They wrote postcards to underrepresented voters in Southern rural districts to encourage voting in the upcoming midterm election.

Especially now, when our voices and actions matter, we are gratified to be partnering with like-minded organizations, including League of Women Voters of New Jersey, North Jersey AIUSA, Bergen County LGBTQ Alliance, The Martin Luther King Birthday Committee, Inc., Northern NJ Sanctuary Coalition, Never Alone Again Resource Center, and others for our Social Action Fair on Sunday, Sept. 20, 11 am to 1 pm at the meetinghouse.

All are welcome to this free event, offering an opportunity to connect with like-minded organizations, explore volunteering, and become part of a collective effort to defend democratic values and build a more inclusive future. See you there!

Congratulations to Curt Collier, shown here at last June's Pride Flag Raising in Teaneck, on his appointment to the township's Pride Awareness Advisory Board, which fosters and celebrates a culture of inclusiveness.

Working with Groundwork Elizabeth, Congressman Robert Menendez Jr., the City of Elizabeth, and the regional director of the EPA, we just graduated 10 students in the state's first Brownfield training program.

Young adults received six weeks of training to help communities tackle environmental challenges. Leader Curt Collier taught one week of training, focusing on safety and masonry. The youth were given 23 certifications, two of which were the OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses offered by Curt.

Over the next four years we hope to graduate 50 young adults who will help better prepare our state to address the unfortunate legacy of industrial pollution. This multi-prong approach, including policy and funding initiatives, relies on young adults to keep the vision of a healthier environment alive.
