From NCORR's Spotlight on Resiliency:

The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season started this month, now is the time to prepare.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association has predicted that the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season will be more active than usual, with 17-25 named storms, 8-13 hurricanes, and 4-7 of those expected to be major hurricanes. The State Climate Office of North Carolina hosted a webinar in May outlining the forecast and offering tips for preparedness. You can learn more about this year’s hurricane forecast and what that means for North Carolina by watching the webinar recording, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faswQ9ajVbA and reading the State Climate Office’s Climate Blog, https://climate.ncsu.edu/blog/2024/05/uncharted-waters-previewing-the-2024-hurricane-season/ .

Preparing for hurricanes involves knowing the risks, understanding evacuation, and preparing an emergency kit for your home or office.
