We love the Frostee Freeze!!! It’s an icon here in Claiborne County! We tell visitors to be sure and try a pizza burger and an old fashioned banana split!

In Tazewell, Tennessee a stop by the Frostee Freeze Drive-In lets you enjoy an old-school roadside meal at a place that still feels like part of the town’s everyday rhythm. This long-running Claiborne County favorite has been around since 1956 and has been called the oldest restaurant in the county, which helps explain why so many locals treat it like more than just a place to eat. You can pull up and order from your car, or step inside and sit down for a simple, classic meal in a setting that hasn’t lost its small-town charm. The menu sticks to the kind of food people come back for again and again, including double cheeseburgers, hot fries, onion rings, and thick made-to-order milkshakes, with butterscotch being one of the flavors folks often talk about. The old neon signs are part of the draw too, and at least three were still on the property in recent years, adding to the real drive-in look that makes the place stand out. With friendly service, familiar faces, fair prices, and that easy roadside feel, Frostee Freeze is the kind of stop that works just as well for a quick bite as it does for a little taste of Tennessee nostalgia.

Come see us at the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park!

As our days grow warmer, what better place to enjoy a picnic than at Cumberland Gap? Don't know where to go? The park has many options, here are just a few!

Bartlett Park is just seconds away from the Visitor's Center. Enjoy a shaded or sunny picnic table by a babbling creek. Watch wildlife and enjoy a flat, open, accessible area for yourself or the whole family!

Lewis Hollow is a hidden gem close to Wilderness Road Campground, with picnic tables tucked among a quiet grove of trees in a secluded, scenic setting.

Civic Park is a remote section of the park that provides sunny, grassy spots dotted with picnic tables in a quiet area at the foot of White Rocks. Enjoy a book and lots of peace and quiet.

Want to stay close by? We have picnic tables right here at the Visitor's Center! The options for nice picnic spots to spend time in the park are many.

We were thrilled to be able to sponsor Morristown Marine’s Team Tournament Trail on our end of Norris Lake today. Large fishing tournaments have major economic impacts on rural communities. There were 230 boats with two people on each boat. Most of them have visited several times in the last month to check out good spots. They have bought gas, food, stayed locally, etc. Tourism dollars from our natural resources save tax payer dollars.
We want to extend a special thank you to all those who helped today: Our office - Karyn Clark, Robin Duncan, Angie Estes, and tourism chair Ronald Lambert with The Nature Conservancy. The mayor, Joe Brooks. Commissioners Nathan Epperson, Haley Barker, and Gary Poore. Michael Cavins. Turkey, Randall McNew. All the great people with Morristown Marine, especially Andy Cole who has worked with us for a while. We also want to thank all the fishermen who participated.
We can’t wait to do it again. We will have the economic impact numbers soon and will share them.
