Our office has TWO exciting things happening tomorrow, Saturday, August 15!!! It is our first ever “Pedal the Gap” bicycle ride for adults that can go on a simple 20 mile ride all the way to a 65 mile ride and ride “The Pinnacle” in the CGNHP. See the info provided! Riders get several free items including a bag, socks, and a tee shirt.
We will also have a “Kids’ Bike Rodeo” for kindergarten through 5th grade on bicycle safety. The first 70 participating kids will get a free bicycle helmet, free knee and elbow pads, a coloring book, and stickers.
This is all possible through the Claiborne Economic Partnership (chamber and ECD board), Visit Claiborne County Tourism Commission, Middle East TN Tourism Commission, Angelo’s in the Gap, The Jeff Roth Foundation, Little Congress Bicycle Museum, the City of Cumberland Gap, many volunteers, and Mayor Joe Brooks who will be honored on the shirts.
We already have over 100 riders coming from across the state and other states which will be a great economic development opportunity for our businesses and community.
For more info, call the chamber at (423)626-4149.

The Claiborne Economic Partnership is deeply saddened by the passing of Mayor Joe Brooks. Mayor Brooks was a valued supporter of our annual Chamber Gala and a steadfast advocate for the businesses, organizations, and people who make our community strong. His dedication to Claiborne County and his commitment to serving others will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Out of respect for Mayor Brooks, his family, and our community during this time of mourning, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Chamber Gala originally scheduled for Friday, July 31. We believe it is appropriate to pause and allow our community the opportunity to honor his life and legacy.

We are currently working with our guest speaker, caterer, musicians, and the school to secure a new date that accommodates everyone involved. As soon as the new date is confirmed, we will share that information with you.

Aside from the date, nothing else will change. All purchased tickets will be honored, table decorations will remain the same, and all planned awards and recognitions will still be presented.

We invite our community to join us in remembering Mayor Brooks, honoring his legacy, and keeping his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and continued support. We appreciate your patience as we make this change in a way that reflects the respect and gratitude Mayor Brooks so greatly deserves.

We love the Frostee Freeze!!! It’s an icon here in Claiborne County! We tell visitors to be sure and try a pizza burger and an old fashioned banana split!

In Tazewell, Tennessee a stop by the Frostee Freeze Drive-In lets you enjoy an old-school roadside meal at a place that still feels like part of the town’s everyday rhythm. This long-running Claiborne County favorite has been around since 1956 and has been called the oldest restaurant in the county, which helps explain why so many locals treat it like more than just a place to eat. You can pull up and order from your car, or step inside and sit down for a simple, classic meal in a setting that hasn’t lost its small-town charm. The menu sticks to the kind of food people come back for again and again, including double cheeseburgers, hot fries, onion rings, and thick made-to-order milkshakes, with butterscotch being one of the flavors folks often talk about. The old neon signs are part of the draw too, and at least three were still on the property in recent years, adding to the real drive-in look that makes the place stand out. With friendly service, familiar faces, fair prices, and that easy roadside feel, Frostee Freeze is the kind of stop that works just as well for a quick bite as it does for a little taste of Tennessee nostalgia.
