Last night, over 100 local youth, regional government officials, and business leaders gathered at the DeBusk Family Club for the Knoxville Youth Town Hall, hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs in Tennessee.

The interactive event centered on a live, 11-question audience poll. As youth answered questions, real-time results were displayed on screen, capturing their perspectives on screen time, the emotional impact of social media, and how Tennessee should invest its $751.9 million landmark settlement with Meta. Running alongside the live polling was a dedicated panel discussion that kept the focus squarely on youth voices.

Town Hall Participants & Speakers:
• Panel Moderator: Judge Bill Jones, Juvenile Court Judge, Campbell County
• Audience Co-hosts: Cole Green and Audie Seay (Boys & Girls Club of Loudon County)
• Youth Panelists: Makayla Turner (Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley), Tion Weaver (KICKO), Cole Burchell (Tennessee 4-H Foundation, Inc.), and Jamille Bowers (Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee )
• Expert Insight: A subject-matter expert from the University of Tennessee College of Social Work provided additional context to the evening's discussions.

This summer, our Ellen Myers Elementary Club members tapped into their artistic side by drawing their very own scavenger hunt checklists before heading out on a nature walk. Everyone had an amazing time, and the excitement of spotting a hidden treasure and checking it off the list was contagious!

Why do we love activities like this? Letting kids design their own checklists isn't just fun—it builds creativity and gives them a sense of ownership over their experience. It transforms a standard walk into an engaging, hands-on mission where they actively practice observation, patience, and critical thinking in the great outdoors.

Way to go, explorers!

Our TNT Club members made the best official tour guides this summer! They loved welcoming our local elected officials and showing them the impactful programming that happens every day behind our Blue Doors. Thank you to all the leaders who visited to see the difference we are making in Claiborne County.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, our mission to inspire and empower doesn't end with our Club members—it extends to our dedicated staff, too.

We take pride in creating a supportive learning environment where team members can grow personal skills, gain leadership experience, and build strong foundations for their future careers.

Former staff member Amari, who now serves with the Knoxville Police Department, shared what his time at BGCTNV meant to him:
"Thank you for everything Boys & Girls Clubs have done for me and the opportunities I’ve had. Boys & Girls Clubs is truly special and feels like home."

— Amari, Former Staff Member

We are so proud of Amari and love seeing our Club family succeed as leaders both inside our doors and out in the community.

Little artists, big imaginations!

Our TNT Club members had a blast diving into canvas painting this week! Beyond painting their own masterpieces, these talented youth practiced expressing the stories and emotions behind their artwork.

From bold brushstrokes to heartfelt explanations, we love seeing our members build confidence through creative expression.
