Status of TRU….a couple questions came up about the status of Tactical Retreat Unplugged and I want to reassure everyone that TRU is alive and well. The mission of TRU will simply move to Texas in the coming months and establish itself there while we continue to serve veterans and first responders from across our country.
We will continue to raise funds, and seek donations to send those men and women on our Camino de Santiago retreats in Spain every year that have been so successful and have drawn very large followings. We have 24 going this year!
Again, many thanks to Tazewell, all our volunteers, the State of Virginia, our friends and community, to Carilion hospital and many, many individuals who have helped us create this oasis in the forest. We always hoped to outgrow our facility and mission, we just didn’t think it would be so quickly.
Now, talking fundraisers, one of our largest annual fundraisers is happening on Sunday May 10th (Mother’s Day) at Lazer Car Wash near Food City in Bluefield, VA. Any cars washed between May 3rd and May 10th they will donate a portion of each wash to TRU….what a great Mother’s Day gift to give mom…a sparkly clean car! We will be onsite Sunday May 10th (9am-2pm) please stop by and say hi!
