Safe Biking, Walking or Rolling for everyone.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BAzwSoTFD/

Summer is here, school is out, and sidewalks are busier than ever!

When parking, please don’t block the sidewalk. Not only is it illegal in Illinois, but keeping sidewalks clear is the right thing to do for people walking, biking, or rolling. For someone with a disability, that space can make a big difference. Let’s keep our sidewalks safe and accessible for everyone. Learn more: https://idot.click/h28

Education is key!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18v38hccxz/

Education creates safer communities - and your support helps expand that work across Illinois.

Ride Illinois is committed to building a stronger culture of bike safety and shared-road awareness through education initiatives that reach communities across the state. This year, we were proud to launch BikeSafetyQuiz 2.0, an updated educational resource designed to help people better understand biking laws, roadway interactions, and how everyone can travel more safely together. We're helping people who bike, walk, and drive gain the tools and knowledge needed to create safer streets for everyone.

Whether you become a member, make a one-time gift, give monthly, or support us through DAFgiving, every contribution helps move this work forward.

Illinois Native Plants & Trees Project Along the Lincoln Prairie Trail

LPTC Volunteers are working on a Illinois Native Sunflower project along the Lincoln Prairie Trail. The Sunflower Patch is located between Owaneco and Millersville on a triangle of land bound by N 1900 E Road and E 800 N Road.

The plot has been cleared and prepped, and seeds were planted yesterday. Once they bloom, pollinators, insects and birds will enjoy the benefit of this habitat and food source.

Trail Users will get a Surprise of Color as they Bike, Hike or Roll on the trail!

Thank you to the LPTC Volunteers, Lori, Brian and Karen for their work on this project, and the to City of Pana for their support!

So what does a volunteer who mows the trail look like, 64 year old grandmother of 13, and the answer to your question is yes, her grandkids go biking with her.

LPTC Volunteers are Safety Conscious. Hearing Protection, a Hat, and a Safety Vest.

Currently LPTC is mowing from East 1100 North Rd to Millersville with the exception of a couple of other helpers with the mowing. So what does it take to mow the sides of a trail that go from flat land to slanted ditch’s, meet Mozilla the pull behind mowing system capable of doing all at and more.

If you have a mower and want to volunteer, click this link to the LPTC volunteer page for more information on how you can participate!

Check out this update.

HB 4948 – a bill sponsored by Rep Marti Deuter and Sen Julie Morrison and championed by Ride Illinois – passed the full Illinois Senate on Wednesday with a vote of 49-9. The bill is now headed to Governor Pritzker’s desk. We gratefully acknowledge the members of the House and Senate who voted in favor of this important, safety-focused legislation 🙌
