Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and many families in our community aren’t sure how they are going to put food on the table this holiday season. The Taylorville Food Pantry is proud to bring back our Thanksgiving Giveaway to help neighbors in need. This will be on a first-come first-served basis until we run out of food for all three of our distribution days. We do not currently offer delivery or transportation, so please be sure to arrange a ride and dedicate space in the vehicle for your goods. We ask for your patience during our giveaway days, as we know the process can be long. We also ask shopping carts not be taken from the premises during these days in order to streamline our process! At this time, we cannot announce the contents of this giveaway, as donations we receive and the demand for food will determine what and how much we can give out.
Which brings us to our next ask. The Taylorville Food Pantry is in need of donors! Our opportunities to give back are vast, from simply writing a check to dropping off a food donation to volunteering your time during our giveaway days. Your support is desperately needed! We anticipate numbers the food pantry has never seen before. We ask that if you are better off this year than last, you implement an easy way to give back to your community - buy one to give and one to keep while food shopping. Many supermarkets offer a deal on holiday meats and Thanksgiving meal essentials! Your donations will not only give you those warm-fuzzy holiday feelings, but you help your neighbor’s family go to bed giving thanks for their full tummies and happy food memories. For the third year in partnership with the Taylorville Food Pantry, the Taylorville Police Department is promoting their incredible annual Turkey Drive! Any interested donors can use our attached flyers for information on requested donations, drop off times and location, along with donation deadlines. Other food drives with donation drop off locations include -
CNB Bank & Trust - Taylorville (deadline November 21st)
Lighthouse Learning Center (deadline November 17th)
Christian County YMCA (deadline November 30th)
Concerned Citizens of Christian County at Veteran's Memorial on Park Street (only November 8th 1p-3p)
The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce - drop off at Suessie's Resale UBNA (only November 18th 5p-8p)

We hope this holiday season you give what you can and help us continue “Feeding Hunger with Heart”!
