On this Memorial Day, we remember the brave military members and law enforcement officers who gave their lives in service to others. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment will never be forgotten. We also hold close the families who carry their memory every single day.

May we never take their sacrifice for granted.

Today we pause.
We remember.
We honor.

It’s the start of National Police Week 2026.

This year, four West Valley officers are riding in the Police Unity Tour in honor of Officer Cody Brotherson, Nathan Lyday, Sgt. Sorenson, and Officer Estrada carrying their memories with them every mile to Washington, D.C.

This year also marks 10 years since Officer Cody Brotherson was taken too soon.

They ride. They remember. They honor. Thank you guys!

As National Police Week 2026 arrives, the members of Garland Fire Department and Tremonton Fire Department find ourselves reflecting with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for two men who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our communities.

On August 17th, 2025, Sergeant Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada were tragically killed in the line of duty. Their loss forever changed our departments, our cities, and the lives of so many who knew and loved them. They were more than police officers β€” they were husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, friends, coworkers, and trusted protectors who answered the call to serve every single day with courage, honor, and selflessness.

During National Police Week, our nation comes together to remember the fallen and honor those who continue to wear the badge. This year holds an especially personal meaning for our communities as we remember Sergeant Sorensen and Officer Estrada and the legacy they leave behind.

To honor their sacrifice, one member representing Garland Fire Department and Tremonton Fire Department will travel to Washington, D.C. to stand alongside our brothers and sisters of the Tremonton Garland Police Department during the National Police Week memorial events. It is a tremendous honor to represent our departments and our communities while paying tribute to these heroes among thousands of law enforcement officers and first responders from across the country.

The bond between fire service and law enforcement runs deep. We train together, respond together, stand together in difficult moments, and support one another like family. When one department hurts, we all hurt. The sacrifice made by Sergeant Sorensen and Officer Estrada is one that will never be forgotten by the firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, officers, and citizens who had the privilege of serving beside them.

Throughout this week of remembrance, we ask our community to join us in honoring their memory. Please keep their families, the members of Tremonton-Garland Police Department, and all first responders in your thoughts and prayers.

Their watch may have ended, but their impact on our communities will live on forever.

Never Forgotten. Always Honored.

The Utah Law Enforcement Memorial invites you to gather with us as they honor the lives, service, and sacrifice of Utah’s fallen heroes.

This is more than a ceremonyβ€”it’s a moment to stand beside the families, friends, and brothers and sisters in blue who carry their memory every day. A moment to pause, to reflect, and to ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

What an incredible evening honoring our fallen officers and supporting their families.

The Utah State FOP Auxiliary, Utah Concerns of Police Survivors - COPS, and Utah FOP Foundation came together for a powerful gala filled with remembrance, unity, and hope. Hearing from the daughters of Sgt. Bill Hooser and Captain Pat Evans was truly moving.

Thank you to Nicea DeGering for serving as our wonderful emcee and to Ryan Innes for sharing his incredible voice and helping make the night so meaningful.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this evening so special. Together, we continue to honor, remember, and support. πŸ’™
