The 7th Annual Veterans Golf Tournament is upon us once again. This Saturday, 25 March at Brushy Mountain Golf Club at 1 pm shotgun start. Our standard 2 Person's Captains Choice format. Prizes for 1st place is $300, 2nd place is $200 , and 3rd place is $100 , individual longest putt and longest drive prizes awarded by the golf course. Either a $10,000 or $1,000.00 value Hole in One prize on ALL Par 3’s. $50.00 donation per player entry/$100.00 per team. Hole Sponsorships, player and team sponsorships are still available also at same pricing. Includes 2 free Hot Dogs, chips and Soda plus one Mulligan per player. Additional Mulligans may be purchased at the event $5 each or 3 for $10. (maximum 4 total) (No Mulligans on Par 3’s to win prizes). We are almost at the max player count for the Tournament so if you plan on playing your taking a chance we may be full if your planning as a walk on. Well….. looks like more dead ends in the saga of the helicopter. For those of you who don’t know the whole story I will forward the summary timeline of events Terry had submitted to the lawyers at your request. Bottom line….. the DA has determined she does not want to pursue any form of restitution for our Post as a result of the unauthorized repossession of the helicopter. Unless we get a ground swell of outside support from the Veterans, the Newspapers, local politicians, business owners or law enforcement… the helicopter is history. It’s a sad day when this kind of fiasco can escalate to the point that Veterans, the citizens of the county who donated money, the organizations who donated materials and parts and the people who spent their time and effort refurbishing the chopper are left with nothing but an empty trailer and some photos of what once was……They is basically nothing we can do anymore if the guy that took the helicopter decides to either sell the helicopter as a whole or the individual parts that were donated to us and stick that money in his pocket and walk off. We need the good citizens help if we are to recover our loss….. we need pressure…. Lots of pressure

Good morning everyone. VFW post 5466 is sponsoring an online benefit cake auction to assist with medical expenses for Alexander county veteran Stan Johnson. He has been in the hospital since September with complications of Covid. We need volunteers to make cakes 🎂. The auction will begin on December 6 and run through December 10th. Pictures will need to be submitted by December 3rd. Cakes will be distributed at the DAV building on Friday, December 10th. We appreciate your help and support.

Per Commander Parks we will not have another regular VFW meeting until August 3. We may have a meeting of the executive staff (commander, SVC, QM, and the three trustees only) to do some necessary paperwork some time in JUNE. Please pass it on.
