We advocate for inclusivity (religious, ethnic, marital status, age, background, skin color, ability, etc.), unity, and the elevation of the City of Taylorsville’s residents.

Let's ring in the holidays together this Saturday! It's Saturday with Santa coming up on Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Taylorsville-Bennion Heritage Museum, 1488 W. 4800 South. Join us for fun, hot chocolate, wassail and more. There will be children's crafts and games, participation prizes for kids and tasty treats. Plus, see Santa arrive on a fire truck! The annual production Luz de las Naciones, a celebration of the rich culture and traditions of Latin America, will be broadcast on November 20, 2021, through different digital platforms.

The event that has become an anticipated annual tradition, this year in virtual form under the theme A light for all, will focus on the importance of being a light in times of reflection, trials, joy and celebration, through colorful dances. and harmonious musical numbers in beautiful settings.

Luz de las Naciones is made up of hundreds of Latino dancers, singers, and other artists, Latter-day Saints, and friends of the Church.

Taylorsville resident, Susi Feltch-Malohifo'ou, was selected by Fobes as one of the 50 over 50 women who “are changing their communities and the world in ways big and small through social entrepreneurship, law, advocacy and education.” (Fobes)

Among her accomplishments:

In 2015, at age 51, Feltch-Malohifo'ou cofounded her nonprofit focused on cultural preservation, economic impact and wellbeing for Pacific Islanders.

The organization partners with the Pacific Island Business Alliance to support business owners and entrepreneurs in Utah.

PIK2AR launched the Pacific Island Film Festival, the National Pacific Island Violence Prevention Conference and other events for the Utah community.

In response to the pandemic, PIK2AR has distributed more than 2,000 masks and donated $40,000 in relief funds.

In 2018, Feltch-Malohifo'ou won the FBI's Director's Community Leadership Award for Utah.

The first African American contestant to win National Spelling Bee is now aiming for Harvard, the NBA and NASA.

Zaila Avant-garde, a 14-year-old from New Orleans, Louisiana, won the 2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee, becoming the first African-American contestant to win the competition.
