What a truly beautiful evening celebrating the treasures among us!๐
Our 41st Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet was held last evening at our office located at 50 Lucy Echerd Lane in Taylorsville. We gathered by candlelight in an elegantly decorated setting to honor the incredible individuals who give so selflessly of their time, love, and compassion. Like treasured gems, each volunteer is uniquely createdโformed with purpose, shaped through lifeโs experiences, and polished through a heart to serve others.
Isaiah 64:8 says โYet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.โ What a powerful reminder that each of our volunteers have been carefully shaped and placed exactly where they are meant to be. Through their kindness, faithfulness, and unwavering presence, they shine brightly in the lives of our patients and families.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated employees who lovingly catered the evening, making it even more special for those we celebrated. And a special thank you to Three Forks Cakes for the beautiful and delicious cake that added the perfect finishing touch to the night.
We were honored to hear from our special speaker, Stevie Robertson with A Story for His Glory Ministries, who shared an inspiring message that touched every heart in the room including a powerful reminder of Matthew 9:37-38โฆ.โThe harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest fieldโ. Her message was a beautiful reflection of the calling our volunteers live out each day. In a world full of need, they have answered that callโstepping into the harvest with willing hearts, serving faithfully, and bringing comfort, hope, and love to those who need it most.
One of the most special moments of the evening was recognizing each volunteer with a unique gem chosen to reflect their individual qualities and traits. Just like no two gems are exactly alike, each person brings their own beauty, strength, and light to our hospice familyโand it was such a joy to celebrate what makes each one so special.
To our volunteersโyou are truly priceless. You are the heart of what we do, and your impact is felt far beyond what words can express. We are so grateful for each of you!โค๏ธ
We would like to publicly thank Adams Funeral Home, Alexander Funeral Service, Tammy Mosteller with Benefits Specialist, Home Instead Senior Care, Thriventโs Community Impact Program, and Wal-Mart for their extra contributions to making the event a success!
To close out the evening, local area businesses generously donated items that were used as door prizes. Alexander Hospice would like to thank each of these establishments for their donations: Appalachian State Athletics, AvaCare, Bloomโs Garden Center, Boxcar, Carmenโs Greenhouse, Chiliโs, Chipotle, Country Road Greenhouse, Cracker Barrel, Crumbl, Dealโs Orchard, Emeral Hollow Mine, Giovanniโs, Grandfather Mountain, Hickory Community Theater, Hickory Crawdads , Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center, Johnsonโs Milling, Little Stitches, Park Vista, Gatlinburg, Red Lobster, Southern Grace Gift Co, Texas Roadhouse, The Dairy Bar, Three Forks Cakes, and Village Inn Pizza.
Hospice Board Members are local citizens and leaders who serve on a volunteer basis for a three-year term. They are responsible for the general oversight of the organization in accordance with its bylaws. Each member of our Board brings a unique perspective, and they all share a commitment and passion to work together to find meaningful ways to help the patients and families we serve.
Hospice Volunteers are people who volunteer their time to support the various activities of the organization. Volunteers come from and represent a wide variety of unique skills, experiences and styles which, if appropriately tapped, can greatly enhance the function and scope of services provided by hospice, in addition to reducing costs. Volunteers play a vital role in the work of Hospiceโฆin fact, it is federally mandated under Medicare that five percent of all patient care hours be provided by trained volunteers.
Volunteers receive comprehensive training, while enjoying flexible hours, interesting and rewarding work assignments, but most of all, hospice volunteers make a difference in the lives of hospice patients and their families.
We have proudly served the citizens of this county since 1985. Over the years, numerous volunteers and board members have given countless time and effort to support the organization. Are you looking to make a difference? Are you searching for a meaningful experience? Do you have the time to commit? You too can become a Hospice Volunteer! If interested, please contact Tina Mitchell, Volunteer Coordinator, at our office at 828-632-5026. Hospice of Alexander is your only hometown non-profit hospice provider. We promise to be there when you need us.
