Temps dropping into windchill 20’s again tonight through weekend.

Needs:
Mens sweat pants medium and large
Womens sweat or pajama pants small, medium and large
Individual package laundry detergent

URGENT REQUEST:
If there is anyone who can help at the shelter tonight from now to 10pm, 10pm - 2am or 2 am-6am please call me at 512-826-6278.
It is quiiet and we have one person for each shift but need another.

SHELTER UPDATE:
Yes the shelter is open!

At this time, forecast wind chill is in the 20’s every night until Monday morning Feb 2. What that means is that, even though we have a few days with temps in the 40’s or 50’s during the daytime, it is more efficient for us to stay open 24 hours than it is to close and reopen every night.

We have 12-14 people and two dogs at the shelter which is capacity. We have 30 people and ine cat housed in 23 hotel rooms. We use hotels for women, families, and for overflow when the shelter is full.

What we need most right now is money to pay for hotel rooms. You can donate:

Thursday 6am-10am
Thursday 10am-2pm clean up/reset shift most likely.

Taylor CAN/St James Episcopal Church will open for 24 hour cold weather shelter on Friday at 7pm and will remain open until Tuesday morning. Hours may be extended depending on the weather.

Anyone who needs shelter from the cold is welcome to come. We will have sleeping spaces, electrical outlets for device charging, and hot food and snacks.
If you have questions please call or text TCAN at 737-306-4574.

For volunteers: If you can assist with shelter supervision, contact Terry Pierce at 512-826-6278 by text or phone.

Below list of items needed can be delivered to the church between 10am and 3pm or on Friday evening. If no one is present, leave them on the porch at 614 Davis.
Waterproof winter gloves
Soft fruit - bananas, grapes, etc
Soft breakfast bars or protein snacks
Sugar packets
Peanut butter and jelly in plastic containers for distribution
Loaves of bread - white or whole grain.
WE CANNOT RECEIVE Perishable or home prepared food!!

Thank you!!! With the generous support of our community, we provided shelter and food during last night’s unexpected freeze to five local unhoused residents.

We open for temperatures or wind chill factor below freezing and provide a safe, warm place to sleep as well as hot food and snacks.

So grateful for Taylor community support!

Warming center OPENS TODAY at 4pm for overnight shelter. Located at St James Episcopal Church, 614 Davis.

Support we need today is individually packaged snacks, granola bars, and goodies!
