Dress for Success Austin will be hosting our annual HER Valor Veterans Event on Thursday, November 5, and we would love to have you join us!
HER Valor is a special day where we close our doors to our regular appointments and dedicate our services exclusively to women veterans. Throughout the day, participants will enjoy inspiring guest speakers, giveaways, professional styling, career support, hair and makeup services, and professional headshots as we celebrate and honor their service.
This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community while directly supporting women who have served our country. The confidence that comes from feeling polished and prepared for a professional photo can be truly transformative, and your expertise will help our veterans put their best foot forward as they pursue new career opportunities.

The Greater Taylor Community Foundation (GTCF) is now accepting applications for Neighbor Helping Neighbor (NHN), a program that helps older adults and residents facing financial or physical hardship live safely, confidently, and with dignity in the homes and communities they love.

Through trained volunteers, GTCF offers free assistance with yard work and basic outdoor maintenance, home repairs, wheelchair ramp building, trash and debris removal, safety checks and wellness visits, and connections to local resources. The program serves residents of Taylor as well as surrounding communities.

Asking for a helping hand isn't always easy, but reaching out is a sign of strength. NHN was created for exactly that—to fill gaps in service and make sure every neighbor has support when they need it.

The program is event-based. Twice per year, GTCF issues a call for applications and schedules an event that brings a large number of volunteers together to help multiple neighbors at once. The next event is scheduled for November 6 and 7. Applications must be received by September 27 to be included. Applications are accepted year-round, so anyone who applies after a deadline will simply be considered for the next event.

Renters are welcome to apply. While NHN cannot make structural repairs to rental properties, volunteers can help with cleanup inside and outside the home and support renters in requesting repairs from their landlord. Neighbors may also apply on behalf of a friend or loved one; the person receiving help will be asked to confirm details and consent to support.

A stronger 211 network means stronger support for West TN.

A one-time $500,000 investment from the State of TN is helping strengthen the statewide 211 network, including the services provided here in our region.

As the regional 211 provider serving 15 counties, we're part of the TN 211 Collaborative working to improve:
✅ Resource directory accuracy
✅ Statewide coordination
✅ Rural outreach
✅ Disaster response
✅ Connections to essential community services

Every day, 211 helps people find resources for food, housing, utilities, transportation, child care, employment support, health care and more. This investment will help ensure Tennesseans can access reliable, up-to-date information when they need it most.

We were honored to share about the work of the Greater Taylor Community Foundation at LEADTaylor today!

GTCF is focused on bringing people, organizations, and resources together to help Taylor thrive. From supporting local nonprofits and volunteers to addressing community needs through our Impact Councils, we believe meaningful change happens when a community works together.

Thank you to LEADTaylor for the opportunity to connect, share, and invite more people into this work. There is a lot happening in Taylor and we are proud to be part of it.
