🚨Bond Update🚨

Demolition has commenced at Kennedy High School!

Interior Demolition at Kennedy has started today. The demolition will begin with interior demolition and then will continue with exterior demolition. Over the next few weeks more machinery will be delivered onsite. The demolition process will be ongoing over the next few months.

Following the demolition of Kennedy High School, the demolition of the Board of Education office will commence. After both buildings are demolished and cleared the construction of the New Taylor High School will begin.

Tentative Schedule for Design Approval:

Tune in October 23rd for a Taylor School District Special Board Meeting as the district approves the final & offical design of the new Taylor High School.

🚨BOND UPDATE🚨

Here is a look at the first draft of the New Taylor High School!

Yesterday the Board of Education was presented with the first draft of the New Taylor High School Design Development. Below is the more refined detail of the new Taylor High School with the addition of draft renderings of the new building.

Yesterday's Capital Projects Committee meeting was informational and provided an opportunity for feedback. The final Design Development will be presented to the board for approval in late August/Early Fall. The final draft will be similar to this but with alterations based on feedback.

🚨Bond Update🚨

New Taylor High School Update:

* On March 1st, 2023 the board of education approved the Schematic Design of the new Taylor High School. At this meeting 4 options were presented, at the boards request, and after discussion the board voted unanimously to approve this option. The approved Schematic Design is attached below.

* On June 7th the board is tentatively scheduled to approve a bid for the demolition of Kennedy High school and the Board of Education. The demolition is tentatively scheduled to occur at the end of July/ Early August.

* Other items that have occurred at the Kennedy site include: DTE light post removal, storm drain cleaning, environmental studies, soil boring studies, land surveying, and other additional administrative tasks.

On June 20th at 6:30pm the board will have a CPC Meeting, where the Design Development Plan for the new Taylor High School will be presented. At this meeting the community will have a chance to see more defined details and modules of the new high school. Once approved the district will proceed with putting the building out for bid.

This summer the Taylor School District was busy putting the 2021 bond into action, but in addition the district made some improvements at schools that were not related to the bond!

The first school that got a makeover this summer was Taylor Parks Elementary! The building was repainted, landscaped, benches and poles repainted, and new basketball nets were put up!

Thank you Taylor School District for working hard and putting love into the oldest operating school in the District (opened in 1938)! Taylor Parks looks amazing!

In addition the new playground was installed with bond 2021 money!

Bond 2021 Improvements continue!

At the current Taylor High School, the crumbling old cement is being removed and new cement is being poured. Not only was this a priority because of our special education population but also for the safety of everyone at the school!

This project is expected to be finished by the end of October!

Bond upgrades continue at the Current Taylor High School, which will be converted into Taylor Middle School once the new high school is built.

The most recent upgrade includes its brand new Running Track! Prior to the new track, the high school had a nonfunctional track that was deemed unsafe for the track team to use. With this new upgrade, our Athletes can have quality facilities to use!

More news of upgrades coming in the following weeks, stay tuned!

The new playground equipment installation process has begun. Here is what you should know about this process.

The Taylor School District signed two different contracts for playground equipment one with Great Lakes Recreation Company and another with Sinclair Recreation. The reasoning was so our district could guarantee a faster turnaround with installing new playgrounds at all eight elementary’s and Johnson’s Early Childhood Center. All playground companies will follow the designs chosen by the staff and students at each building. All playgrounds are expected to be complete by early fall!

2021 Bond in action!

The District has begun to remove playgrounds at all the Elementary Schools and the preschool. With the 2021 bond money they will be installing all new playgrounds throughout the remainder of summer and into the fall!

The students and Staff at each building got to vote and give input on their favorite playground design to install!
