El viernes 8 de mayo, el escenario del SON DEL MUNDO será testigo de una experiencia única con Ronkalunga .

Más que un artista, es un puente entre culturas, un canal donde lo ancestral y lo contemporáneo se encuentran. Su música no solo se escucha… se siente, se honra y se vive. 🌍✨

Cada interpretación es un viaje profundo: ritmos que nacen de la memoria, sonidos que conectan continentes y una presencia escénica que transforma el momento en algo casi ritual. Con Ronkalunga, el público no solo presencia un concierto, entra en una experiencia viva de identidad y emoción.

Kas Kas Instrument Building workshop with Eddie Osbourne!

Eddie Osborne is a Florida Keys based cultural artist and instrument maker who will lead a hands-on workshop exploring traditional instrument craftsmanship and the musical traditions of the African diaspora.

The instrument occurs widely in coastal West Africa, from Ghana in the north to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau in the south. Its various names include kas kas, kesse kesse, televi, and aslatua.

The instrument consists of two seed pods that are filled with hard strikers and connected to each other by a length of cordage.

Instrument maker Eddie Osborne will conduct a workshop on crafting this fascinating rattle in a 45 minute - 1 hour session on April 4. Participation is capped at 10, first-come, first-served, so don't dilly or dally - register on our webstite at www.communityartsandculture.org!

Community Arts and Culture presents the 28th annual Afro Roots Fest at the Florida Keys Brewing Company in Islamorada. Beginning at 10am, with hands-on instrument-making classes and percussion workshops for all ages. The free concerts begin at 4pm with Cuban group Cortadito, Haitian pioneer Sanba Zao, African duo Famato, and the Everglades Songbook Suite band. Made possible with the support of Cosmo Tires and the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.
