The number of children who are at risk continues to grow while state budgets for their needs has steadily declined. Advocating for Kids, Inc. provides our vulnerable children with emergency needs that might otherwise remain unmet.
When agencies contact A4K about a child who may be at risk of removal from their home, we work with their representatives to provide emergency needs in order to maintain family stability.
If children are removed or in a home deemed unsafe, children often leave with little more than the clothes on their backs. Some children who are removed from their homes are in non-relative care and may receive little financial support from the state for the care of a child they have taken into their home. This creates a financial hardship on well-meaning caretakers and can result in the return of a child to foster care if financial aid is not available.
