Research shows that students who are hungry often have difficulty concentrating, making it harder for them to do well in class, on assignments, and in taking standard tests. Over 50% of the total student population in Pickens County Schools qualifies for free or reduced-rate lunches.
Throughout the academic year the WEEKEND SNACK PROGRAM works to ensure that students in the Pickens County school system have sufficient food when they are away from campus over the weekend. Each week we pack over 650 bags full of snacks and easy-to-prepare foods for students in our county to take home with them.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Donations โ whether one-time, occasional, or regular โ are greatly appreciated. All financial contributions are tax-deductible, as we are a registered 501(C)3 charitable organization.
Checks may be made payable to the Weekend Snack Program and mailed to: P.O. Box 245, Tate, GA 30177

Food donations are welcome as well. For a list of common items included in the weekend snack bags, please see the Amazon wish list linked on our page.
Volunteers are also needed for shopping, sorting, packing, delivering, and other tasks necessary to keep the program running smoothly.
