Horses In The Hood Our goal is to enrich the lives of inner-city young people in the Los Angeles area by providing them And, they have a lot of fun!

Horses in the Hood provides day camps in Chatsworth, CA for young people from inner-city Los Angeles. Campers learn to ride and care for horses as well as enjoy other horse-related activities like decorating horse shoes and art projects. They learn to lead, groom, clean the horses' feet and put on the saddle and bridle. They are introduced to the names of the parts of the horse and the parts of th

e tack. Most important, they learn to collaborate with the other campers, encourage and learn from each other. The campers come away with special skills that build their confidence and provide them with a sense of accomplishment.

We are having a fantastic summer camp season. We’re hosting our sixth camp.

The kids are learning horse psychology, horse handling, grooming, tacking up and of course RIDING! Throw in some horse-related art projects, a beautiful setting and you’ve got a great summer. In the words of one of our campers, “This is the best day of my life!”

We’re looking forward to the start of this summer’s horse camps.
