As You Like It? More like as we LOVED it! Last night’s trip to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival was pure magic. What started as a slightly foreboding sky turned into a spectacular sunset over HVSF’s stunning new open-air theater, where the actors beautifully incorporated the surrounding landscape and natural environment into the performance.

Before the show, we enjoyed a farm-to-table dinner at Folio featuring fresh ingredients from local farms, followed by an unforgettable performance of As You Like It.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to UJA-Federation of New York for providing transportation through their On the Way program, making it more accessible for folks to attend this culturally important event.

If you missed this one, be sure to keep an eye out for our next adventure.

As we wrap up another amazing summer at River Friends Day Camp, we want to give some extra appreciation to the incredible team behind it all: Allie and Edna!

They’re the force behind so much of what made this summer special—from planning all the fun events our campers loved (like today’s Bubble Bus!), organizing camp groups and fostering new friendships, to getting everyone where they needed to be for activities across campus. And then there’s managing dozens of cars at drop-off and pick-up every day—those walkies definitely got a workout!

They’ve stayed amazingly flexible, pivoting plans because of weather (and even wildfire smoke!), keeping parents updated, making sure we had plenty of photos to share, and handling countless details behind the scenes.

Most importantly, they made sure our campers were safe, happy, and having an amazing summer every single day.

Thank you, Allie and Edna, for everything you do for River Friends! We couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️

We had an amazing JCC Maccabi Games® this year! 26 athletes represented us, competing in baseball, basketball, soccer, and tennis in Toronto and Kansas City—and they made us proud both on and off the field.

Our athletes brought home GOLD in 15U Baseball; SILVER in 17U Baseball, 3v3 Basketball, and Tennis; and BRONZE in Soccer!

We’re also especially proud of 17U Baseball Coach Michal Dittleman, who was honored with a Midot Medal for sportsmanship by the Kansas City Sports Commissioner. The award recognizes athletes and coaches who demonstrate outstanding character, kindness, sportsmanship, and Jewish values—regardless of the final score.

Beyond the medals, the Games are all about making new friends, building confidence, celebrating Jewish community, and creating memories that last long after everyone comes home.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year when the JCC Maccabi Games head to Austin, Texas!

Interested in joining us next year? Be sure to reach out and stay tuned for details.

Last week was LIFT’s final week of the summer, and we miss them already!

All summer long, our LIFT interns have been helping out all over the J! They’ve done maintenance, fundraising, childcare, and marketing (including making this post!) As a grand finale, they took their skills to the movie theater. We’re already looking forward to next year!

This past Tuesday evening at River Friends, parents were finally able to join in on all the camp fun, too! We had such a great time at Parent Night cozying up with our camp community for songs, stories, snacks, and quality time together!

Our competitive swimmers picked a great week to hit the pool! They trained with Coach Victor, who brings 23 years of coaching experience and has even helped swimmers reach the Olympic Trials. From stronger strokes and better breathing to building fitness for meet day, our swimmers put in the work.

But it wasn’t all skills and drills—there was plenty of time for pool noodles, basketball, and good old-fashioned summer fun, too! 💦
