LifeWay Network

LifeWay Network LifeWay Network collaborates to combat human trafficking through safe housing and education. Visit us on the web at www.lifewaynetwork.org.

Since its founding in 2007, LifeWay Network has emphasized the power of collaboration in creating the slavery-free future we all envision. We believe in bringing people together to form a community and address a global issue with significant local impact. Human trafficking occurs around us. It affects people in our neighborhoods. We must join together to end slavery today and empower survivors to reclaim a life of freedom. Tax ID: EIN: 20-8645579

Cheers to the wonderful friends who joined us for Rose All Day, our wine tasting fundraiser supporting safe housing for survivors of human trafficking.💕🍷

We enjoyed a lovely evening of sipping and sampling at Pound Ridge Wine and Spirits, sharing valuable information about how trafficking happens and how to prevent it, as well as how the women survivors in our programs are building lives of independence and freedom.

We relish these opportunities to build community and connections. And what a great way to kick off summer. Thank you to our guests, sponsors, silent auction donors and bidders and those who worked so hard to bring this event to life!

Some survivors of trafficking arrive at LifeWay Network carrying experiences that are too painful, too recent or too overwhelming to put into words.

Art therapy creates another path toward healing. Through painting, drawing and creative expression, survivors can begin processing trauma in a way that feels safe and accessible — while also realizing they're not alone.

This is part of our regular, ongoing trauma-informed care at LifeWay Network’s comprehensive safe house, supporting survivors on their healing journey during Mental Health Awareness Month and every month of the year.

Congratulations to the leaders named 2026 Women of Distinction by New York State Assemblymember Chris Burdick — including our executive director, Ali Boak! We'd also like to congratulate our colleague, Patti Reyes D’Agostino, who is chief of development and community relations at Hope's Door. Thank you to Assemblymember Burdick for honoring the work these women do to change their communities!

Have you ever seen a human trafficking story and wondered whether it’s true? You’re not alone. We frequently receive questions asking whether an event is real or false. With the amount of information circulating online, it can be difficult to decipher fact from myth.

Since 2007, LifeWay Network’s education program has aimed to equip communities to understand human trafficking, identify it and know how to respond when it happens. That work includes not only providing information, but also dispelling myths and conspiracy theories.

Whether it’s a trafficking myth, rumor, misinformation, disinformation or conspiracy theory, the impact is similar: It clouds an already complex issue and makes it harder to take action. The International Labour Organization estimates 50 million people globally have experienced trafficking, and distorted narratives can undermine a meaningful and actionable understanding of the realities faced by victims and survivors.

Healing from the trauma of being trafficked — and the vulnerabilities and systemic factors that increased her risk of being trafficked — is among survivors' most monumental undertakings.

That's why we feel so incredibly fortunate to benefit from the expertise of Dr. Allison Bloom who, as a volunteer, leads LifeWay Network’s EmpowHer Program.

Dr. Bloom comes to LifeWay's safe houses bimonthly for group and one-on-one meetings, during which survivors have the opportunity to explore self-care and wellness topics such as personal hygiene, nutrition, exercise, sleep and anxiety, and ask questions.

Thank you, Dr. Bloom, for joining us in this work to support survivors as they seek lives of freedom and independence. Together, we are helping to offer a path forward!

One of the best parts of providing an educational presentation on trafficking to students is the flood of questions at the end.

Not because we don't provide a sound foundation on the basics of labor and s*x trafficking, but because so many young people have direct or peripheral experience, and they're hungry to talk about it, to speak to a survivor, to learn even more.

LifeWay Network's education director, Tori Curbelo, was joined by a trafficking survivor for a presentation recently to the Leo Club (a subset of the Lions Club) at Somers High School. These dynamic young people were eager to listen and share, and they're now better equipped to resist, to recognize and to report instances of trafficking.

We're so grateful for the opportunity to increase awareness and engagement. If you'd like to discuss an education presentation by LifeWay Network, please email [email protected].

Sharing challenges and, more importantly, solutions is critical to the work we do to prevent human trafficking and support survivors. We're always eager to learn and work collaboratively.

LifeWay Network was honored to take part last week in the Alliance to End Human Trafficking's 2026 conference, United in Prevention: Current Trends and Prevention Strategies.

LifeWay Executive Director Alison Boak (center) facilitated a roundtable discussion during the conference, along with Sister Kate O'Neill (left), of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions and LifeWay Network host community member. Moriah Beatrice (right) contributed her valuable insights as a lived experience expert.

Survivors of human trafficking across the United States are being greatly impacted by the reduction in critical services and the closing of housing programs. Cuts in federal funding, food insecurity, threats to Medicaid benefits and the ICE crackdown on immigrants have created a climate of fear and hopelessness among survivors of human trafficking. LifeWay sought to create a safe space for organizations to share strategies and support.

Thank you again to the for bringing us all together and fostering this community!

We were thrilled to gain insights, inspiration and connection at the Alliance to End Human Trafficking's 2026 conference, United in Prevention: Current Trends and Prevention Strategies, bringing together a diverse group of advocates, practitioners and partners committed to strengthening human trafficking prevention efforts.

Here, Sister Kate O’Neill (left), one of the two Sisters who serve as full-time hosts in our safe housing program, and Ali Boak (right), LifeWay Network executive director, are joined by Sister Mary Genino of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, who formerly served in LifeWay Network's safe houses.

LifeWay Network also hosted a roundtable gathering for providers of safe shelter and housing for survivors of human trafficking, to discuss challenges and provide support and hope.

Thank you so much to the for hosting this phenomenal event!
