235 educators came to Iasi from Moldova to participate in OvidiuRo's training program for developing literacy in young children. They brought back to their kindergartens in Romanian-speaking Moldova over 9000 great illustrated children's books. All their students are getting an exciting start to the school year.... and to a lifetime of reading.

On June 4th, The Alex Fund hosted a special evening at the home of renowned writer Andrew Solomon in New York City. Guests joined us for an open discussion on early education in Romania, led by UN Ambassador Cornel Feruță.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported our mission. The funds raised will go directly toward children’s books for summer programs across Romania and Moldova.

OvidiuRO Association and UiPath Foundation will expand the non-profit's early literacy program, Every Child Deserves a Story, to Dâmbovița county, in southern Romania. This follows four years of interventions in seven counties across Romania.

In 2024, OvidiuRO celebrated, alongside a community of 30,000 teachers, two decades of transformative work, characterized by dedicated outreach to remote villages, collaborative problem-solving, and an unwavering commitment to literacy and learning.

With our support, in 2024:
📚 Over 116,000 children have been involved in educational programs.
📖 75,300 illustrated books have reached communities where they were most needed.
👩‍🏫 17,400 teachers have participated in training sessions.

Thank you for supporting children and teachers in disadvantaged areas of Romania.

📚 The Alex Fund supports Teacher Training! 🎓

In 2024, with the support of the Alex Fund, Asociația OvidiuRO, and Asociația Cu Alte Cuvinte launched an online course dedicated to education for diversity that addresses five important themes: ethnicity, gender equality, family, neurodiversity & disability and socio-economic status.

More than 3,000 teachers have signed up, more than 1,700 have already completed it, and the first 500 received sets of books to support diversity learning in the classroom.

Alex Fund invests in the continuous training of educators who can make a real difference in the lives of Romanian children! 🌈

Exciting news for our partner organization Asociatia OvidiuRO alongside the Ministerul Educației și Cercetării al Republicii Moldova . They are implementing the project "Podul de cartii pentru copii" or "Bridge of books for all children." This program is sending over 5000 books to give to educators and parents. They will have access to tools needed on how to have more effective teaching practices in reading to their students.

A reading island has been set up in Kindergarten no.1 in the village of Sireți, Straseni district. This reading island will have books so children can find the passion of reading and the opportunity of having more access to books right at their fingertips.
