Tarpon Springs Outdoor Performance Ensemble

The Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts is a national pilot program that focuses specifically on leadership through the arts. The goal of our program is to teach students that leadership requires service to others. Kevin Ford, the Tarpon Springs High School Marching band, or Outdoor Performance Ensemble, has become one of the top High School Bands in the country most recently being

awarded 1st place at the 2014 Bands of America Grand Nationals Championships. The Outdoor Performance Ensemble is a seven-time National Champion marching band and has received straight superiors for 19 years. In addition to the band's Fall achievements, the Wind, Jazz, and Percussion ensembles have been invited to perform at venues that include the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Color Guard, or Auxiliary, have had the privilege to perform all over Florida and were awarded 2014 WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. This year we have another milestone to celebrate. The Marching Band received an invitation to represent the State of Florida in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®! This is an honor only bestowed upon 11 bands in the United States. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase our students’ talents in front of more than 30-million Americans is a tremendous honor. However, the invitation also represents a huge financial obstacle for our families. As an organization, we will do everything possible to make sure that no student is left behind because of an inability to pay for this trip. We are seeking financial assistance from individuals, corporations, and civic organizations. We remain hopeful that our community, whether it be Tarpon Springs, the state of Florida, or nationwide, will see the value in this trip for our students and provide us with financial assistance.

Enjoy an exciting evening featuring performances by our talented percussion studio students, along with a special showcase from our middle school all-star drumline. You won’t want to miss this celebration of all the hard work these students have been putting in all year. See you there!

The TSLCA Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony have had an unforgettable week in New York City so far! Since arriving Monday, students have explored the city through incredible experiences such as Birdland Jazz Club, Top of the Rock, or The Great Gatsby.

Tuesday they all attended a fantastic masterclass followed by visits to world-renowned museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History. The evening was spent together starting with dinner at Stella 34 Trattoria and a Broadway performance of Hadestown - featuring TSLCA alumnus Emily Frederickson on trombone!

Today included a group photo, a tour of Radio City Music Hall, and time exploring Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue, and Central Park.Now, we’re preparing for the highlight of our trip, our performance tonight at 8 PM at Carnegie Hall!

Tomorrow, students will wrap up the journey with visits to Battery Park, a ride on the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty, and exploring neighborhoods like Chinatown and Little Italy, or even walking the iconic Brooklyn Bridge - depending on student’s choice and then fly home to Tampa. Stay tuned for more posts as we gather photos from the trip!

A huge congratulations to the 65 TSLCA musicians who auditioned and were selected for the 2025-2026 Pinellas All-County Bands, making up an incredible 65 of the 174 students chosen countywide. Their hard work and dedication were on full display at today’s final concert at The Mahaffey Theater. Way to represent TSLCA with excellence! So proud of you!

Huge congratulations to our 2026 Florida All-State students from the Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts! These amazing students participated in rehearsals and concerts at the FMEA 2026 conference from January 14-17. Your talent, discipline, and countless hours of hard work have paid off in a BIG way. We are so proud to see you represent TSLCA at the highest level in Florida. Next up is Pinellas All-County Band with the culminating concert taking place this Saturday, January 24th at the Mahaffey Theater.

Last night’s rehearsal was about more than just music — it was about community, compassion, and strength. Every year, our band and guard family dedicates a night to honor and support those affected by all types of cancer by wearing pink. A heartfelt thank you to alumni Leah and Khloe Francis for sharing their story with us and reminding everyone why this tradition means so much.
