Introducing :
AMANDA FULLERTON

Ozona, Florida and Hayesville, North Carolina

www.amandafullerton.info

A native Floridian, I began my art career as an artist at Walt Disney World and Sea World when I was a teenager. After a 20 year career as a professional geologist, predominantly in the environmental field, I have returned to my first calling – creating art.

I have Signature Status and won many awards with the Florida Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of North Carolina and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, and have also been juried into the National Watercolor Society and Southern Watercolor Society shows. My art has been accepted into fine art festivals around the southeast USA and can also be found in galleries in Florida and North Carolina.

Although I work in many mediums, currently I am enjoying painting watercolor on yupo paper.

WATERCOLOR ON YUPO PROCESS

Yupo is a slick, non-porous surface made of polypropylene and is completely recyclable. Watercolor paint sits on the surface, rather than soaking into the paper. The result is intense pigment that can move while wet. I start with a transparent layer of colors and sometimes add textures with various materials and tools. Allowing the paint to dry, I can carefully add layers of paint. The final paint layer typically includes using gouache (a highly pigmented watercolor paint), sometimes mixed with a touch of acrylic to achieve a matte appearance. When the painting is complete, I fix it with a UV-resistant clear coat. The results look very different from traditional watercolor.
