‼️Be Prepared for a Disaster: Protect Important Documents‼️

In the event of a disaster, having quick access to essential documents can make recovery much easier. It’s important to store these documents in safe and accessible ways.

✅Recommended Storage Methods
• USB Drive (digital copies): Scan important papers and store them on a secure USB drive.
• Safety Deposit Box: Keep original documents in a bank safety deposit box for maximum protection.
• Fireproof/Waterproof Box or Bag: Store documents at home in a container designed to withstand fire and water damage.

✳️Additional Tips
• Keep both digital and physical copies when possible.
• Use password protection or encryption for digital files.

When disaster strikes without warning, family members may not always be in the same place. Completing a Family Emergency Plan with specific information will help during the chaos and confusion.

🚩Provide copies of this plan to all family members and keep where it is visible in your home.

📝The plan should include:

📞Contact List: Communication through cell phone may be difficult after a disaster.

📍Meeting Point: a location where you whole family knows and can meet.

🚗Evacuation Route: more than one route is optimal as there could be issues with one route.

VEAR - Village Emergency Assistance Registry

The Village of Ruidoso has a Voluntary Registry for individuals who may need assistance in an emergency.

Who should register?
- People with disabilities.
- Medically fragile people.
- People with limited mobility.
- People who have communication barriers.
- People who require transportation assistance.
- People who require personal care assistance.
- People who require additional medical assistance during an emergency event.
