Taos School of Music is an eight-week intensive chamber music school accepting only 19 advanced students of violin, viola, cello and piano ages 18-29. Successful applicants study with world-renowned chamber musicians such as the Borromeo, Brentano and Shanghai Quartets and pianist Robert McDonald among others.

Join us August 8 and 9 for the final Young Artist concerts of our 63rd season. After eight remarkable weeks of rehearsals, coaching, collaboration, and performances, our Young Artists take the stage once more to share the music they have built together. As the 63rd season comes to an end this weekend (8-weeks never felt so short), we celebrate the incomparable Judy Anderson. Judy and her husband, Chilton, founded the Taos School of Music, and in the School’s entire history, she has missed only two concerts: one for the birth of her daughter and another when her son received his Navy wings.

Her devotion to the School, its musicians, and the music itself is woven into every season we celebrate.

What a joy it was to welcome the Ariel Quartet to Taos for the very first time! Their concert with pianist Thomas Sauer was nothing short of extraordinary, filled with breathtaking intensity and a unique sustained power that resonates long after the concert ends.

Taos, this is your Sunday plan. 🎻

The acclaimed Ariel Quartet makes its Taos School of Music debut today at 5 PM at the Taos Center for the Arts, joined by pianist and longtime TSoM faculty member Thomas Sauer.

The program brings together Mendelssohn’s fierce and deeply personal String Quartet, Op. 80, Berg’s beautiful and exacting String Quartet, Op. 3, and Brahms’s monumental Piano Quintet, Op. 34.

Come hear one of the world’s leading string quartets in its first TSoM appearance. Tickets are available online and, subject to availability, at the TCA box office beginning at 4:30 PM.

It begins with a highly competitive international audition and leads to eight transformative weeks in the mountains of northern New Mexico.
