As it happens, life sometimes throws us curve balls, inviting us to consider Plan B.

Such a thing happened last Thursday when violinist David Felberg, who is performing in this coming weekend’s TCMG concerts with the Chatter group, informed us that Alan Zimmerman, percussionist, had fallen ill and would not be well enough to perform in Kate Soper’s Ipsa Dixit scheduled to be performed on January 11 and 12.

What ensued was a flurry of communications between the performers to come up with an alternate program. In record speed, a new program was devised that retained two of Kate Soper’s Ipsa Dixit movements, those that did not involve percussion.

We are pleased to announce this new program that will feature works by, in addition to Soper, Schubert, Satie, Aperghis, and Glass. These pieces complement the chamber/theater elements in Soper’s work. Pianist Judith Gordon will join the remaining performers, Jesse Tatum on flute, soprano Tara Khozein, and David Felberg on violin in this updated program.

TCMG is so pleased to bring the Chatter ensemble to Taos, albeit in a slightly different form.

We look forward to seeing you at these most special events. What is so great about Chatter is that its mission so well jibes with TCMG’s mission to provide “wild and scenic” music to Taos audiences and beyond.

Two performances are scheduled at the Harwood Museum of Art on Saturday, January 11 at 5:30 pm and Sunday, January 12 at 3:00 pm (matinee).

Dear valued TCMG supporters,

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become a nation-wide day of philanthropy: Giving Tuesday (December 3). The Taos Chamber Music Group joins this year-end event as it has done in years past. As with all non-profit organizations we depend on your generosity to support our mission of more than 30 years to present wild and scenic music to the Taos community and beyond.

We have been blessed with your generosity and support this past year. Thank you! We are writing to those of you who have considered making a donation to TCMG but have not yet pressed the “Donate” button on our Website. Giving Tuesday is your opportunity to make that year-end gift. Every gift counts. Every gift is valued. Every gift is tax-deductible. Every gift makes it possible for us to bring you the very finest performers to the TCMG stage.

We wish to extend to all of you our very best wishes for a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year. The Taos Chamber Music Group is about to join the festivities with our Holiday Season Festival featuring Gleb Ivanov in recital (December 13), then joining TCMG favorites, Sally Guenther and LP How in a chamber music program (December 14-15). We look forward to seeing you at both concert programs. Please get details and purchase tickets from our Website, taoschambermusicgroup.org.

With gratitude,
The Taos Chamber Music Group Board
