Meet Ashva!
At the age of 54 I heard of the adult education program at UNM Taos. I was amazed that there's something like this out there to help people like me. This program has been beneficial for me, my mental health, my self esteem and my confidence in going back to school at this age. It has given me a purpose to give back by sharing the trials, tribulations and successes of my life to help others. I have learned it’s never too late to start again and reach towards my goals in life’s journey. It has shown me that I am worth it, that I can learn again, and get back on my feet. My goal for the future is to be in a better place today than I was yesterday. I can't change the past, but the future is bright.
I encourage people to do adult education, it is the key to a better life. It’s good to find the right people to help you unlock the knowledge of how you need to learn, because we all learn differently. There’s no wrong way to learn as long as you’re getting there and it feels good learning. I know this from my personal experience at the Taos Education and Career Center.
I represent other people with learning disabilities and people who struggle with mental health issues. My message is to not give up, challenges in life will push your boundaries for learning.
